Boot Hill Museum Inc. is seeking a reliable Part-Time Maintenance worker in Dodge City, KS to assist the Facilities Manager with cleaning, safety, and upkeep of the museum environment.

The role involves opening/closing the facility, basic repairs, landscaping tasks, and event support, with 20–25 hours weekly and occasional evenings or weekends based on events.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, custodial, groundskeeping, or related work.
• Reliable and dependable with good time management.
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the facility.
• Clean and maintain museum common areas, exhibits, and restrooms.
• Dust, vacuum, and sanitize surfaces throughout the museum.
• Empty trash and maintain cleanliness.
• Perform minor repairs such as bulb changes, hardware tightening, painting, and basic plumbing/electrical tasks.
• Monitor building systems and report issues to the Facilities Manager.
• Assist with exhibit setup, maintenance, and signage.
• Support with events and preserve safety in all areas.

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Part-Time Maintenance employee. This individual will work with our Facilities Manager to maintain our complex. This role is essential to keeping the museum clean, safe, and welcoming for all visitors and employees.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for opening and closing the facility
• Clean and maintain museum common areas, exhibits, and bathrooms
• Dust, vacuum, and sanitize surfaces throughout the museum
• Ensure trash cans are emptied regularly
• Perform minor & routine repairs such as replacing light bulbs, tightening hardware, repairing fixtures, painting/touch-ups, and basic plumbing or electrical maintenance as permitted
• Monitor building systems and report issues with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or other equipment to the Facilities Manager
• Responsible for snow and ice removal
• Safely operate and perform basic maintenance on landscaping and groundskeeping equipment.
• Ensure landscaping, lawns, and museum grounds are maintained and presentable
• Assist with the installation, maintenance, and removal of exhibits, displays, and signage.
• Assist with set-up and clean-up after special events and activities
• Identify and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Facilities Manager or Executive Director
• Maintain work areas in a safe and orderly condition
• Other duties and assignments as required

Schedule & Benefits

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour

• Approximately 20–25 hours per week. Specific days and hours will be determined based on museum needs and the applicant’s availability.
• Occasional evenings and weekends may be required for larger events.

Qualifications

• Previous maintenance, custodial, groundskeeping, construction, or related experience preferred
• Reliable and dependable
• Ability to manage time efficiently while prioritizing multiple tasks and deadlines
• Ability to work well independently and with limited supervision
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, climbing, pushing, pulling, and stretching as required to perform essential job duties.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, and perform physical tasks for extended periods of time.
