Maintenance 12 month Classified Position
Overview

Provides technical expertise and manual skill in the inspection, servicing, and repair of the buildings, grounds, equipment, and furnishings of the district.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in maintenance work with working knowledge of various phases of maintenance.
  • Licensed driver in the state of Kansas.
  • Must meet all district safety requirements.
  • Must meet all job standards in a time‑sensitive manner as determined by supervisor.
  • Ability to effectively use district email.
  • Must demonstrate ability to respond quickly to emergencies.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manual.
  • Must have reliable personal transportation.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Must support district mission, goals and objectives.
Essential Functions
  • Perform general maintenance duties focusing primarily on plumbing maintenance and repair.
  • Report need for minor or major repairs to building systems for the purpose of regular maintenance.
  • Perform groundskeeping duties.
  • Assist in mowing, hauling and rearranging furniture as classroom and building revisions are made to ensure the facility is ready for regular or special activities.
  • Pick up, haul, and deliver equipment and supplies to ensure that each building has the appropriate equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with moving, setting up and storage of audio‑visual, classroom equipment and/or curriculum materials.
  • Use cleaning implements, equipment, machinery and vehicles provided by the district to accomplish tasks.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding student and staff information in order to remain in compliance with legal requirements and to maintain a professional work environment.
  • Inspect for and conduct pest control.
  • Manage job requirements with physical dexterity using small basic hand tools in simple procedures (e.g., changing bulbs, servicing plumbing fixtures, replacing glass panels, working gauges, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Attend training.
  • Regular attendance is required.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. The employee may also sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear, and may need to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials up to 60+ lbs. Physical exertion, stooping, bending, and reaching may be required. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision. Some extended hours and multiple demands from several people are frequently required.

Work Environment

Must work in and around dust, fumes, odors, noisy and crowded environments, and work indoors and outdoors year‑round in a variety of temperatures. Protective gear including gloves may be required. Must manage job requirements with physical mobility to move from place to place (walking, standing, stooping, pushing, pulling, kneeling, crawling, turning, reaching, climbing, balancing, and lifting up to 90 lbs. on a daily basis) and use large heavy equipment.
