Job summary

FirstService Residential is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Worker to ensure that all mechanical systems and equipment operate properly and common areas stay clean, disinfected, and well kept. This role reports to the Chief/Building Engineer and is typically second in command on site.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of general maintenance experience, strong customer service and communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with Excel and Word is a plus.

Qualifications

• Two years general building maintenance experience.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Proficient in MS Office and able to learn Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Routinely inspects and communicates to immediate supervisor as applicable.
• Ensures all safety precautions are followed while performing work.
• Must be able to properly utilize new equipment and follows safety procedures prior to using this equipment.
• Maintains working relationship with community staff.
• Painting of all common areas and touchups may be required; inspect areas that need paint and advise supervisor.
• Completes daily work orders as scheduled.
• Maintains assigned equipment in good working condition.
• Perform general labor such as lifting/moving heavy items as directed by supervisors and following safety procedures.
• Performs maintenance replacement and repair in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, painting, flooring, and other minor building repairs when a permit is not required.
• Maintains records, prepares reports and other duties as assigned by management.

Job Overview:

This role is generally the second in charge and reports directly to the Chief/Building Engineer.

Your Responsibilities:

• Routinelyinspectsandcommunicatestoimmediatesupervisorasapplicable
• Ensuresallsafetyprecautionsarefollowedwhileperformingwork
• Mustbeabletoproperlyutilize newequipmentandfollowsafetyprocedurespriortousingthisequipment
• Maintains working relationship with communitystaff

Skills - Qualifications:

Education/Training: High School diploma or equivalence preferred

Experience/Knowledge/Abilities: Two years general building/community maintenance experience is strongly preferred. Strong customer service, communication, time management and interpersonal skills required. Effective verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to respond to emergencies in a timely manner. Computer literacy required; Some workingknowledgeofMSOfficeapplicationsandwillingnesstolearnandutilizeExcelandWordprogram.Abilitytowork flexible and/or extended hours and weekends based on project requirement.

Compensation:

$33 - $35 / hour
