Job summary

Bericap SC, LLC is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support all departments by maintaining and optimizing equipment to achieve best production results. The role reports to the Maintenance Manager and requires timely response to calls to resolve issues with equipment.

The successful candidate will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across a range of machinery, while adhering to GMPs and food safety standards. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years’ experience in PLC/PC controlled machinery, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and maintenance

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe maintenance work and GMP compliance
• Respond to equipment issues to minimize production downtime
• Perform maintenance PMs and repairs on machinery
• Enter maintenance activities in MVP/OPS Tracker systems
• Support continuous improvement projects and tooling department as needed
• Be available for overtime, weekends and holidays as required
• Communicate issues during shift handoffs and passdowns

Job description

Bericap is a privately held family-owned company founded in 1926, and is one of the leading manufacturers of plastic closures for food, beverage and industrial markets. As a result of continued growth Bericap SC, LLC has a full-time, hourly opening for a Maintenance Technician reporting to the Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Technician will support all departments in maintaining and optimizing all equipment to get the best production results by responding to calls in a timely manner to resolve issues with equipment and support production.

Key Responsibilities

General

• Ensures that all work undertaken is carried out safely and without injury
• Ensures Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are followed at all times (no jewelry, cell phone, nicotine in any form, etc.)
• Ensures that all food safety issues are reported to the appropriate manager or supervisor
• Housekeeping duties performed throughout the shift
• Ability to lift 35 pounds unassisted and while standing/walking for duration of shift
• Develop, implement, and support Continuous Improvements Programs
• Initiates corrective action for non-conformances
• Identify Opportunities for Improvement and enter into See It, Sort It, Report It system
• Able and willing to wear appropriate PPE as required
• Able to work unscheduled overtime, weekends and holidays as needed
• Duties as assigned per Operations Manager

Maintenance Functions

• Participates in pass down meeting with previous shift Maintenance Technician
• Daily review of Maintenance Communication Board for outstanding action items
• Timely response to maintenance related machine issues which are safety related
• Assist with completion of machine PMs and repairs
• Complete work orders through MVP when not working on urgent repairs
• Enter appropriate information in OPS Tracker and MVP daily
• Work on Continuous improvement projects assigned by Maintenance Manager
• Respond to any emergency or potential emergency
• Support tooling department as needed

Skills

• Developing competency or knowledge in the following areas: windows based programs, blueprint reading, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical code/controls, PLC, machine shop equipment, metal fabrication, mechanical principles, basic welding
• Basic electrical troubleshooting of machinery and ability to read electrical schematics
• Working knowledge of replacing heater bands, heat relays and troubleshooting heat zones
• Working knowledge of servicing hydraulics and replacing hydraulic pumps
• Working knowledge of troubleshooting pneumatic systems

Experience

• 1-2 years’ experience in the following areas: PLC/PC controlled machinery, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and maintenance repair of plant utilities
• Injection machine troubleshooting preferred
• High speed packaging equipment repair preferred
• Working knowledge of injection processing preferred
• ISO or similar quality system and SQF or similar food safety system preferred

Education

• High school diploma or technical college diploma in related field preferred
