Job summary

Oldcastle APG, a CRH company, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to oversee preventative maintenance and repair of equipment, tools, and machinery. The role runs from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm and may require overtime to meet production needs, with duties assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

The candidate should have 5+ years of experience, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to read manuals and work with hand and power tools.

Job Summary

This role is responsible for the overall preventative maintenance and repair of equipment, tools, and machinery as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor. This role will work from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, but must be flexible to overtime. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform general repairs and preventative maintenance to plant structures
  • Install, adjust, and repair production equipment, and special purpose machines as assigned
  • Test and troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery, determine repairs, and follow through with these repairs to assure proper operation of equipment in a safe, timely manner
  • Install equipment and/or electrical components and test to ensure proper functioning
  • Dismantle equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools
  • Mig/Stick Welding, torch cutting, and light machining as required
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools to repair, grease, change and clean parts/equipment to ensure proper operation
  • Keep the work area in a clean and orderly condition
  • Work occasionally with mobile mechanic as needed
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
Job Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience required
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience and training, or comparable education
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions and operations manuals and follow step by step instructions
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability are essential
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, belting, mechanics, electricity, carpentry
  • Knowledge of CMMS system and its function
  • Able to work with a team or independently
  • Full understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance programs
  • Familiarity with log out tag out procedures
  • Work safely and efficiently to maintain plant support
  • Lift tools, machinery parts, and other objects which could weigh up to 80 lbs. each. Assistance is advised and available if needed for heavier objects
  • Endure intermittent bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, stooping, and reaching
  • Standing for an extended period
  • Able to work in manufacturing type conditions such as hot and/or cold temperatures, noise, dust, and dirt
