Job summary

Wabtec is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Coshocton, Ohio, responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and servicing equipment in a manufacturing environment. Job description

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the SanCasT group, you will be responsible for performing a variety of manual tasks to support all production and physical plant equipment in the facility. Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and services electrical and electronic systems, industrial electrical machinery and controls, and other tasks in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate must have the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot the facility’s equipment including electrical systems, motors, disconnects and breakers, low voltage controls and PLCs. Other duties may be assigned as required to meet the needs of the business.

What do we want to know about you?
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Five years of related experience/training or equivalent combination of education and experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Industrial, electrical, and/or welding certifications preferred
  • Must be able to read and follow all quality process/work instructions.
  • Must obey all safety rules and wear all proper Personal Protection Equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers.
What will your typical day look like?
  • Performs safe operations.
  • Check and refill lubricant reservoirs, apply grease to lubricant points, inspect machinery while performing scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Operate shop tools, equipment, and as many machines related to maintenance as skill level will permit.
  • Make repairs and adjustments to machinery and assist in dismantling all or parts of machinery to repair or replace defective components.
  • Assist in electrical projects and perform minor electrical repairs.
  • Assist in pipe fitting tasks and able to perform some installation tasks unassisted.
  • Perform certain portions of repairs to power industrial equipment, assists in rebuilding of related equipment.
  • Maintain and service a range of building equipment such as HVAC, lighting, water and sewer, etc.
  • Assist in the installation of new plant equipment.
  • Maintain production equipment in good operating condition while optimizing equipment uptime to insure the safe and timely manufacture of quality coatings.
  • Improve reliability and operating efficiency of plant equipment.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks in a timely manner to insure operation of all equipment, in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Support site housekeeping and safety programs, maintaining a workplace that is clean and safe.
  • Maintains production and quality standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of general plant practices, floor layout and procedures.
  • Understand basic electrical and pneumatic diagrams, familiar with 12 VDC to 480 VAC electrical wiring or circuits and capable of diagnosing 115 VAC control circuitries.
  • Possesses strong mechanical skills and lean manufacturing practice.
  • Must be able to perform continual and heavy lifting.
  • Licensed to operate a 3‑ton forklift truck.
  • Requires repeated movements and tasks daily.
  • Must be able to work a rotating shift and overtime as required.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a group as a team player.
  • Has the ability to learn quickly and apply new skills immediately.
