Job summary

Paylocity in Bowling Green, KY is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support installation, modification, troubleshooting, repair, and ongoing maintenance of manufacturing equipment and facility systems.

• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment documentation.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the installation, modification, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and facility systems. This position performs preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime, improve production processes, and support a safe, efficient, and quality-focused manufacturing environment.

The Maintenance Technician works closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and other departments to identify equipment issues, implement effective repairs, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two-year degree in a related technical field or five years of relevant experience in a skilled trade or industrial maintenance environment.
• Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, with an emphasis on electrical and/or mechanical systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Ability to take accurate and detailed measurements.
• Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, compressors, and related equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical controls, relays, sensors, motors, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Understanding of basic electrical theory and its practical application.
• Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment documentation.
• Basic math skills and ability to perform measurements and calculations accurately.
• Ability to identify equipment issues, determine root causes, and implement effective repairs.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while also working effectively as part of a team.
• Knowledge of and commitment to following applicable safety procedures, company policies, and environmental requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other manufacturing equipment and systems.
• Support the installation, setup, modification, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment, machinery, and processes.
• Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance activities and inspections.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production support requests to minimize downtime.
• Use appropriate tools, equipment, spare parts, technical resources, and external service providers to efficiently resolve equipment issues.
• Assist Production and machine operators with equipment-related issues and provide technical support as needed.
• Train machine operators on basic equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, and preventive maintenance activities when appropriate.
• Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend improvements to increase equipment reliability, safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, equipment documentation, and inventory of maintenance parts and supplies.
• Communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, managers, contractors, and outside service providers.
• Support continuous improvement activities related to equipment, processes, safety, and production efficiency.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance area and work environment.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, work instructions, and process standards.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures, OSHA requirements, environmental regulations, and company safety policies.
• Safely operate forklifts and other equipment as required and authorized.
• Be available to work flexible hours, including overtime or short-notice call-ins, when necessary to support production and business requirements.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Ability to stand, walk, squat, kneel, bend, reach, push, and pull for extended periods, including a minimum of eight hours during a typical workday.
• Regularly lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 35 pounds.
• Frequently lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 55 pounds.
• Occasionally lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds, with appropriate assistance or equipment when required.
• Ability to climb and descend ladders, stairs, platforms, and other elevated work areas safely.
• Ability to work safely around manufacturing machinery, moving equipment, electrical systems, compressed air, hydraulic systems, and other industrial equipment.
• Ability to safely use a variety of hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to operate a forklift and other powered industrial equipment when trained and authorized.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toe footwear, and other PPE as required.
• Work may involve exposure to noise, dust, fumes, temperature variations, and other conditions commonly found in a manufacturing environment.
