Maintenance Technician

Columbus School for Girls seeks to hire a full‑time Maintenance Technician. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, this role performs essential maintenance and operations tasks throughout the facility to ensure a safe, operational, attractive, clean, and healthy environment for students, faculty, staff, and community members. Major Functions & Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean, operational, safe, and attractive campus.
  • Complete work orders assigned by the manager.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance on facilities and equipment.
  • Carry out indoor and outdoor routine maintenance and projects such as cleaning halls and bathrooms, sweeping leaves, removing snow and ice from walkways, emptying trash, and straightening furniture.
  • Use school‑owned tools and equipment safely.
  • Coordinate with facility vendors.
  • Support campus security by ensuring exterior doors are properly locked and assist with security duties as needed.
  • Perform light construction‑type repairs or identify repairs for outside subcontractor attention.
  • Fulfill event, athletic, and meeting facility requests including common areas, fields, and rooms—setting up and tearing down equipment.
  • Complete tasks on time and to a high standard of detail, while being aware of the school’s daily schedule.
  • Perform light custodial duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior construction or facility experience (painting, drywall, plumbing, carpentry) and landscaping experience (weeding, mowing, snow removal, planting) preferred.
  • Experience in school maintenance preferred.
  • Computer skills, including familiarity with Google Suite.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
