Job summary

Community Leadership Academy/Victory Preparatory Academy seeks a dependable School Building & Grounds Maintenance Technician to join the facilities team. This year-round, full-time role maintains a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students and staff.

Responsibilities include routine maintenance, preventive repairs, campus deliveries, light snow removal, and basic grounds upkeep, with larger landscaping projects handled by contracted vendors.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience in building maintenance, custodial services, facilities management, or related field is preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate custodial and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks safely.
  • Strong communication and collaboration with staff, contractors, vendors, and community partners.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in public safety practices, building systems, mechanical operations, and English proficiency.

  • Operate custodial equipment, including floor scrubbers, ladders, and other facility maintenance tools.
  • Respond quickly and professionally to facility-related emergencies and safety concerns.
  • Use Microsoft Office applications to maintain records, track schedules, document repairs, and support reporting needs.
  • Assist with occasional deliveries and logistics support across campus.

Hourly Rate: $20.00–$30.00 per hour

Work Schedule:
This is a year-round position with 260 compensated days, including 232 scheduled workdays, 13 paid holidays, and 15 vacation days.

We are seeking a dependable and skilled School Building & Grounds Maintenance Technician to join the facilities team at our award-winning charter school. This year-round position plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment where students and staff can thrive.

Key Responsibilities
Building Maintenance & Repairs
  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive upkeep using hand tools, mid-range power tools, and related equipment.
  • Support the safe and efficient operation of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and lighting.
  • Identify maintenance needs and address issues proactively to keep facilities operating effectively.
Custodial Services & Facility Care
  • Maintain classrooms, offices, and common areas to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
  • Operate custodial equipment, including floor scrubbers, ladders, and other facility maintenance tools.
Safety & Emergency Support
  • Respond quickly and professionally to facility-related emergencies and safety concerns.
  • Follow established safety procedures and help maintain compliance with school safety standards.
Maintenance Documentation & Reporting
  • Use Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams, to maintain records, track schedules, document repairs, and support reporting needs.
Delivery & Campus Support
  • Assist with occasional deliveries and logistics support across campus to help maintain efficient school operations.
Grounds Maintenance & Snow Removal
  • Perform light grounds maintenance, including walkway clearing, minor debris removal, and basic landscaping tasks.
  • Coordinate with contracted landscaping services for larger outdoor maintenance projects.
  • Provide light snow removal at entrances and high-traffic areas to maintain safe access during winter weather.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior experience in building maintenance, custodial services, facilities management, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate custodial and maintenance equipment, including floor scrubbers, ladders, and other facility tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks independently while maintaining a high standard of safety and quality.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, contractors, vendors, and community partners.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to assigned locations as needed.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in:
