Blue Ridge Escapes is seeking a dependable Maintenance Technician to service our vacation rental portfolio across Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and surrounding areas. You’ll perform repairs, preventative maintenance, and guest-focused troubleshooting in a field-based role.

Typical day involves traveling between properties, completing repairs, inspecting sites, and coordinating with cleaners and the operations team. Compensation ranges $18.00–$22.00/hour with benefits.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform minor repairs on doors, locks, drywall, trim, and fixtures.
• Replace light bulbs, air filters, and small hardware.
• Address basic plumbing and electrical tasks.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Respond to guest and property-owner maintenance requests.
• Triage issues with WiFi, smart locks, TVs, and appliances.
• Document work and report issues in company systems.
• Light yard work and exterior upkeep as needed.

Position Overview

We’re looking for a dependable, hands‑on Maintenance Technician to help maintain and support our portfolio of vacation rental properties.

In this role, you’ll work across multiple homes completing repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting issues that directly impact the guest experience. This is a field-based role where reliability, attention to detail, and problem‑solving are critical.

Key Responsibilities

General Maintenance

• Perform minor repairs such as fixing doors, locks, drywall, trim, and fixtures
• Replace light bulbs, air filters, smoke detector batteries, and small hardware
• Address basic plumbing issues (clogs, leaks, running toilets, faucet repairs)
• Assist with basic electrical tasks (switches, outlets, fixtures)

Preventative Property Care

• Complete routine property inspections and maintenance checklists
• Identify potential issues before they become major problems
• Help maintain HVAC systems with filter changes and visual checks
• Ensure properties remain safe, clean, and guest‑ready

Turnover & Guest Support

• Respond to maintenance requests from guests and property owners
• Troubleshoot issues such as WiFi, smart locks, TVs, and appliances
• Help prepare properties for arrivals during busy periods when needed
• Light yard work and exterior upkeep as needed
• Assist with weather preparation (winterization, storm prep, etc.)
• Communicate clearly with the operations team and cleaners
• Document completed work and report issues through company systems

What a Typical Day Looks Like

• Start your day reviewing assigned work orders on your phone
• Travel between assigned properties in the local area
• Complete a mix of repairs, inspections, and troubleshooting tasks
• Communicate updates and document work through company systems
• Occasionally respond to urgent guest-related maintenance issues

Required Qualifications

• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
• Comfortable using basic hand tools and power tools
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical work (climbing stairs, ladders, etc.)
• Strong problem‑solving skills and willingness to learn
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to pass a background check
• $18.00 – $22.00/hour, based on experience and reliability
