Job summary

FLATS LLC (a ProperXPM company) is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our on-site team and care for a scattered portfolio of Uptown Chicago apartment communities.

The role focuses on completing maintenance orders, preparing vacant units for new residents, and maintaining common areas while ensuring safety and high-quality living spaces. You will support on-call emergencies and collaborate with the Property Manager to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in apartment or building maintenance.
• Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and appliance repair.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned maintenance work orders promptly and effectively.
• Perform maintenance tasks in vacant units to prepare them for new residents (apartment turns).
• Maintain common areas of the building, including hallways, lobbies, laundry rooms, and amenities.
• Conduct pool and seasonal amenity maintenance, including cleaning and basic equipment checks.
• Identify and resolve minor plumbing and electrical issues.
• Perform light carpentry, painting, drywall repairs, and general building repairs.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance on equipment and systems.
• Maintain the property’s exterior, including trash pickup and snow removal.
• Respond to on-call, after-hours maintenance emergencies on a rotating schedule.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring all areas meet safety standards.
• Collaborate with the Property Manager and other team members to ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Provide excellent customer service to residents and guests during maintenance visits.

Schedule: Monday - Friday from 7:30am - 3:30pm. It is also required to be available to respond to emergencies after hours.

• Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks (climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, etc.).
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
