Job summary

Related Management Company (RMC) is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician for a 656-unit affordable community in Chicago, IL. You will perform plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other repairs to prepare vacant units for occupancy while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Compensation is $27.23/hour with a Monday–Friday, 8:00–5:00 schedule. This on-site role at Roosevelt Apartments offers growth opportunities through collaboration with your supervisor and the maintenance team.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in general maintenance.
• Experience in affordable housing preferred.
• Plumbing, carpentry, painting, appliance repair and electrical experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform property maintenance and facilities work.
• Coordinate completion of resident and management service requests in a timely manner.
• Prepare vacant units to occupancy standard within established time frame.
• Inspect property mechanical systems and grounds; immediately address safety issues with management.
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance activities in partnership with supervisor.
• Partner with Maintenance Supervisor to prepare site for inspections.
• Maintain workplace safety policies and standards, including current COVID-19 standards.
• Rotating on-call responsibility for emergency maintenance repairs.
• Maintain inventory of building materials and supplies.
• Must be a team player and be able to work with little supervision.
• Support site and office operations as assigned by manager.

Your skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other areas will help your property team better prepare vacant units for occupancy, making more units available faster to those eligible for affordable housing in your community. You'll demonstrate pride in your building by completing service requests in a timely manner, interacting with residents, and keeping your property's systems in good working order. Work Environment

• Emergency on-call rotation is required.
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and be able to stand for an 8-hour shift.
