Job summary

ScottsMiracle-Gro in Channahon, IL is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team on the 1st shift through mid-September, transitioning to 2nd shift. The role involves troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, and pneumatic systems across production lines, conveyors, packaging, grinding and stacking equipment.

Candidates should have prior maintenance experience, manufacturing exposure preferred, and the ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50

• Able to read numbers and maintain written records.
• Able to push buttons, monitor controls, and perform basic math functions.
• Teachable attitude and ability to learn quickly in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair equipment across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, and pneumatic systems.
• Repair production line equipment including conveyors, packaging, grinding and stacking equipment.
• Assist in installation of machinery and equipment.
• Cutting and welding, including light steel fabrication.
• Inspect and adjust equipment and diagnose malfunctions.
• Perform maintenance and other duties as assigned.

Job description

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician who will join our team in Channahon, IL.

This position will work 1st Shift through mid-September and then will transition to 2nd Shift.

What you’ll do in this role:

• Troubleshoot and perform repairs and maintenance on parts of equipment including machines including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, and pneumatic repairs.
• Repair production line equipment including conveyor belts, packaging equipment, grinding equipment and stacking equipment.
• May perform or assist in the installation of machinery and equipment.
• Cut and welding, including light steel fabrication.
• Inspects and adjusts equipment.
• Assist in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
• Performs maintenance duties or other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need to be successful:

• Prior relevant maintenance experience.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability for prolonged and repetitive motions of standing, twisting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, bending, climbing, reaching overhead and arms/hands dexterity.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Teachable attitude and ability to learn on the job in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to read numbers, product descriptions, and maintain written records.
• Ability to push button, monitor controls, and perform basic math functions.
