Job summary

IFF, a global leader in flavors, fragrances, and food ingredients, is seeking a Maintenance Technician for its Cedar Rapids, IA site. This on-site role supports manufacturing operations with a focus on reliability, safety, and efficiency.

You will troubleshoot and repair equipment, interpret technical drawings, and document work in the CMMS. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and industrial maintenance experience, with strong mechanical and electrical skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
• Industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting is expected.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, P&IDs, and equipment documentation.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain manufacturing equipment to maximize reliability and uptime.
• Perform maintenance on utility systems including water, air, steam, and cooling systems.
• Interpret P&IDs, schematics, and drawings to support maintenance activities.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems, motors, and control circuits.
• Document maintenance activities and shop time in the CMMS.
• Support continuous improvement and safety initiatives with cross-functional teams.

This role is based in Cedar Rapids, IA (On-Site) . You'll join a collaborative and safety-focused team where continuous improvement, technical expertise, and teamwork are essential to supporting efficient manufacturing operations.

Where You'll Make a Difference

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain manufacturing equipment to maximize reliability, uptime, and production efficiency.
• Perform maintenance on utility systems including water, air, steam, chilled water, glycol cooling systems, and associated equipment.
• Interpret P&IDs, schematics, isometric drawings, and equipment documentation to support maintenance and repair activities.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems including motors, control circuits, switches, gearboxes, and related equipment.
• Document maintenance activities, labor hours, parts usage, and detailed work records within the CMMS system.
• Support continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and safety initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams across the facility.

What Makes You the Right Fit?

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology or related field preferred.
• Previous industrial maintenance experience with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills with experience diagnosing equipment and system failures.
• Experience with instrumentation, control systems, and industrial manufacturing equipment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Ability to work safely at heights, climb stairs and ladders, enter confined spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds.

How Would You Stand Out?

• Experience maintaining equipment in food, chemical, biotechnology, or other industrial manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of pumps, valves, agitators, air compressors, chillers, motors, and utility systems.
• Strong understanding of safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance requirements.
