Job summary

IFF, a global leader in flavors, fragrances, food ingredients, and health & biosciences, seeks a Maintenance Technician to join the Memphis on-site team. The role focuses on planning and executing preventive and predictive maintenance activities to improve plant reliability and safety.

You will collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and operations to optimize plans, manage work orders, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Formal training via an Industrial Maintenance apprenticeship program or equivalent technical education.
  • Minimum of three years of progressive experience as a Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance concepts and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Review maintenance work orders and develop detailed job plans aligned with priorities and timelines.
  • Conduct field assessments and evaluate equipment documentation to define scope, labor, materials, and safety considerations.
  • Partner with Supervisors, Technicians, Reliability Engineers, and Operations to validate and optimize maintenance plans.
  • Create comprehensive job packages including procedures, permits, drawings, P&IDs, photos, and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate procurement and availability of materials, services, and tools for planned maintenance.
  • Monitor material lead times and proactively communicate risks to schedules and plant operations.
  • Maintain and improve maintenance documentation, SAP master data, BOMs, procedures, and equipment records.
  • Ensure work orders are prepared, resourced, and ready for scheduling and execution.
  • Capture lessons learned and update maintenance plans based on field feedback for continuous improvement.

Where You'll Make a Difference
  • Review maintenance work orders and develop detailed job plans aligned with established priorities and execution timelines.

  • Maintain and continuously improve maintenance documentation, SAP master data, bills of materials, procedures, and equipment records.
  • Ensure planned work orders are fully prepared, appropriately resourced, and designated as ready for scheduling and execution.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by capturing lessons learned and updating maintenance plans based on job execution feedback.

  • Formal training through an Industrial Maintenance apprenticeship program, trade school, or equivalent technical education.
  • Minimum of three years of progressive experience as a Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance concepts and best practices.
  • Experience using CMMS/MRIS systems, preferably SAP Plant Maintenance.
  • Understanding of electrical distribution systems, mechanical equipment, and industrial maintenance processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and execution quality.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple functional teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Ability to analyze maintenance requirements and develop efficient, cost-effective work plans.
How You Would Stand Out
  • Experience planning maintenance activities in a food, beverage, chemical, or highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced SAP Plant Maintenance experience including master data management and bill of materials optimization.
  • Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), root cause analysis, or continuous improvement methodologies.
