Job summary

Coherent Corp. Budd Lake facility is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to maintain facility systems and production equipment, supporting operations, EH&S, and reliability.

You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and document work in the maintenance system while coordinating with operations and contractors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
• Hands-on experience in industrial or facilities maintenance.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.

Facilities Maintenance Technician

Support the maintenance, repair, and operation of facility systems and production equipment at the Coherent Budd Lake facility. Work with Operations, Engineering, Production, and EH&S teams to help ensure equipment reliability, facility uptime, and a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on facility and production equipment according to established schedules.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and utility systems.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and assist in restoring equipment to service.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment issues in the maintenance tracking system.
• Assist with facility improvement projects and equipment installations.
• Coordinate with outside contractors and service providers as directed.
• Support HVAC, compressed air, chilled water, RO water, and other building utility systems.
• Assist with equipment moves, setup, and rigging activities.
• Maintain maintenance tools, spare parts, and supplies.
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
• Support EH&S requirements, including proper handling and disposal of waste materials.
• Assist production and R&D teams with equipment maintenance and repairs as needed.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical school training, trade certification, or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.
• 6+ years of industrial maintenance, facilities maintenance, or manufacturing equipment experience preferred.
• EPA 608 Certification preferred but not required.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Strong mechanical skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, including RTUs and AHUs.
• Basic knowledge of general construction
• Experience with industrial cooling and chilled water systems.
• Familiarity with compressed air systems and distribution equipment.
• Understanding of RO water systems and industrial utility systems.
• Basic knowledge of UPS systems, generators, and electrical distribution equipment.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance test equipment safely.
• Ability to read equipment manuals, drawings, and maintenance procedures.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

This version focuses on hands-on maintenance and repair responsibilities rather than engineering, program management, contractor management, and strategic planning activities.

Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
