Job summary

Housing Authority in Colorado is seeking a Maintenance Technician to ensure safety, appearance, and operational standards across the community. You will perform repairs, preventative maintenance, and unit make-readies while following safety policies and housing regulations.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation. CAMT certification is preferred, with strong carpentry, electrical, plumbing skills and teamwork.

  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid Drivers License; insurance current.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned service requests timely.
  • Perform repair and preventative maintenance on units and buildings.
  • Respond promptly to resident maintenance requests and restore service.
  • Prepare vacated units, including painting and carpet repair/cleaning.
  • Document all work performed.
  • Manage tools, supplies, and inventory.

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for completing tasks that ensure the community meets safety, appearance and operational standards established by the Agency. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for complying with the AHA’s operating and safety policies and procedures and for adhering to all federal, state and local laws pertaining to the operation of the community including Fair Housing laws.

  • Responsible for the timely completion of assigned service requests.
  • Performs repair and preventative maintenance work on property units and buildings per Property Standards.
  • Responds quickly and courteously to resident requests for maintenance service, troubleshooting the source and taking appropriate action to repair and/or restore service by providing quality workmanship within the time standard established for the community.
  • Responsible for the make ready of vacant units prior to new resident moving in including painting, carpet repair and carpet cleaning.
  • Completes required documentation for work completed.
  • Responsible for company tools, maintenance supplies and property maintenance inventory system.
  • Initiates and implements preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Initiates ideas and means to improve property appearance and maintenance services.
  • Seeks ways to economize Housing Authority resources without compromising quality.
  • Cleans the common areas, performs janitorial duties, and ensures the grounds are well maintained and free of debris and litter.
  • Removes snow ensuring the safety for residents, in a timely manner per AHA policy.
  • Informs Property Managers of any issues observed in housing units.
  • Maintains availability for on-call night and weekend work as required per schedule.
  • Follows-up on service requests to ensure the highest quality customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborates with Property Management staff to ensure continuity of service.
  • Maintains positive, can-do attitude with residents, communicating potential problems to the Property Manager or designee.
Qualifications

High School graduate; technical school preferred but not required.

Must have reliable transportation, a valid Drivers License, and be current with all necessary insurance.

CAMT (Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician) preferred.

Prefer 2 years’ apartment maintenance experience.

Basic carpentry skills  Solid mechanical aptitude

Solid knowledge of electrical and plumbing repair and maintenance

Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of personnel and the general public

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability and willingness to continually improve the technical skills necessary to perform assigned maintenance.

Additional Information

This job has a starting salary of $27 - $30/hour depending on experience.
