Job description

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintenance services including troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance of all electrical and mechanical systems within the facility.

Responsibilities
  • Comply with all Company rules for health and safety, including completion of safe work permits and actively seeking and completing hazard and exposure eliminations.
  • Follow work instructions and preventative maintenance plans, enter job completion data and associated stores issue transactions.
  • Interface with the SAP maintenance management system.
  • Identify improvement opportunities including the development of the preventative, predictive, and proactive maintenance programs.
  • Possess excellent critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities; able to collaborate with others to resolve complex problems.
  • Consult with outside vendors and contractors.
  • Handle hazardous chemicals.
  • Operate maintenance equipment such as lathes, presses, saws, etc.; safely operate forklifts, articulating lifts, and scissor lifts; perform work from ladders and scaffolds.
  • Familiar with NFPA 70e/Arc Flash requirements in addition to CPR/First Aid guidelines.
  • Have working knowledge of load‑interrupting switches, distribution transformers, switchgear, and circuit breakers; familiar with switching plans and LOTO of power circuits.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Familiar with infrared testing, vibration analysis, oil analysis, motor circuit analysis, and ultrasound testing.
  • In‑depth knowledge of relevant industry equipment: control valves, pumps, drives, instrumentation, AC/DC motors and controls, PLC and servo systems.
  • Interpret electrical/instrument loop diagrams.
  • Use diagnostic equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Knowledge of maintenance plant facilities equipment such as lighting, air compressors, cooling towers, fire systems, HVAC, cranes, lifting devices, and other industrial systems.
  • Conduct plant equipment breakdowns to meet production schedules and record work details in SAP.
  • Ensure all maintenance procedures and quality of work are compliant with company standards.
  • Knowledge of combustion and induction heating systems.
  • Strong communication skills using multiple forms such as email, text, phone, and face‑to‑face.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships through effective communication with operators and other maintenance employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • High School diploma.
  • 5 years of previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment focusing on electrical and mechanical maintenance.
  • Ability to prioritize and self‑direct job duties and daily accountabilities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, overtime, shutdowns, and flexible scheduling.
  • Working knowledge of industrial plant power distribution equipment: transformers, load‑interrupting switches, switchgear, circuit breakers, trip relays.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2‑year technical degree or completion of an Apprenticeship Program.
  • Previous experience using maintenance management systems such as SAP.
  • Familiarity with hazardous chemical handling procedures.

Working Conditions

Position is within a fused quartz manufacturing facility with exposure to high heat, cold, and at times broken quartz. The role requires indoor and outdoor work, including elevated surfaces and/or roof work. Appropriate PPE is provided for all employees.
