Job summary

Moore County seeks an experienced maintenance worker to perform intermediate technical tasks in repairing, installing, and maintaining buildings and grounds. Responsibilities span electrical, painting, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, and masonry trades, with hands-on grounds upkeep and safety compliance.

Under the Property Management Maintenance Supervisor, the role may supervise helpers and requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a valid North Carolina driver’s license.

Job description

Performs intermediate technical work in the maintenance, repair, modification, installation, and construction of buildings and facilities and grounds maintenance of public grounds through essential functions such as: skilled maintenance and repair work in electrical, painting, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, masonry, and ground maintenance; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Property Management Maintenance Supervisor. Supervision may be exercised over helpers.

  • Thorough knowledge of the common practices, tools, and terminology of the mechanical or building trade to which assigned

  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution and one (1) year of progressive experience in one or more of the following areas: equipment repair, building maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or grounds maintenance
  • Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License

This is heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; works requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoke word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of part at or within arm’s length, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, oils, and wearing a respirator. The worker may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
