Job summary

Michael Foods, Inc. in Norwalk, IA seeks a Maintenance Electrician L1 (MEL1) to perform electrical/instrumentation maintenance and reliability work in our plant.

The role supports PM, PDM, RCA, and continuous asset health improvement, while collaborating with maintenance teams to meet safety, quality, and production goals. The MEL1 will participate in training, flex with the 2-2-3 day schedule, and may assist with installations, startups, and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Associate degree, two-year technical certificate, or relevant experience in electrical/instrumentation.
  • 2 years of experience as a maintenance electrician in industry/manufacturing.
  • Electrical license or certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate with electrical/instrumentation maintenance teams to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Learn and champion Precision Maintenance techniques and ensure procedural compliance.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical/instrumentation equipment and perform upgrades as needed.
  • Document activities using the CMMS and support reliability reporting and RCA analyses.

Location Description

Responsibilities

This position is for Days (2-2-3 schedule). We offer a sign on and annual bonus, as well as Annual Merit reviews. We also offer college reimbursment for college courses while employed.

SUMMARY:

TheMaintenanceElectricianL1(MEL1)provides both Maintenance and Reliability services within the plant,executing withexcellence andassistingcriticalelectrical/instrumentationasset health improvement efforts. TheMEL1willhelpensure results while partnering with plant maintenance team personnel, plant operational team,and all other plant supportteamsmembers for success.The MEL1focus responsibilities are execution of electrical/instrumentation PM, PDM, RCM, Precision CM, and Operator Care Programs. Other dutiescanincludeassisting withelectrical/instrumentation equipment installation, troubleshooting,adjustments, startups, and process improvement projects.The candidate must be a self-starter willing to accept electrical/instrumentation reliability and process responsibility and KPI results.This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value.Ensures that all policies, procedures andactivities,related to Food Safety &Quality,are followed andcomplied withuniformly,in an effort toreduce product and process variability.This role must be available to work scheduled work times,weekends,andholidays,as necessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate withelectrical/instrumentationmaintenanceteam membersand tasksto ensure personal safety, quality, delivery, andcost,are continuously being improved to achieve companyobjectives.Be an active member who contributes to the advancement of theMFI & ARMculture.
  • Actively learnand champion Precision Maintenance techniquesensuringprocedural compliance and that job tolerances are met
  • Activelyparticipateincriticalelectrical/instrumentationequipment maintenancetraining for maintenance personnel
  • Activelyparticipatein followingreliabilityprocedures for criticalelectrical/instrumentationspares and parts
  • Activelyparticipatein followingquality commissioning procedures forcriticalrebuilt or newelectrical/instrumentationequipment
  • Activelylearn andparticipateduringcriticalelectrical/instrumentationmaintenanceassignments
  • Activelylearn andparticipateinelectrical/instrumentationtroubleshooting tasks
  • UtilizeMFI approvedCMMS tomanage, document, andsupportelectrical/instrumentationreliabilityreporting and decision making.This will beaccomplishedthroughthe guidance ofMFI ARM standards.
  • Keepaccurateand up-to-date recordsasrequired.
  • Provides input for root cause analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centered Maintenance to create an environment of continuous asset reliability improvement.
  • Promote, and foster Michael Foods culture,values,and principles.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCEREQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent
  • Associate’sdegreetwo-yeartechnical certificate, and / or a relevant combination of experience whichdemonstrateselectrical/instrumentationtechnical aptitude.
  • 2years of experience as a maintenanceelectricianwith an emphasis onindustry or manufacturing
  • Electrical license orelectrical/instrumentationcertificationpreferred
  • E&I troubleshooting experiencepreferred
  • Understanding of mechanical and/or electrical schematics and blueprints including equipment specific electronics diagrams preferred
  • Prior experience in SAP preferred.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent administrative and follow up skills
