Job summary

Hydranautics, part of the Nitto Group, seeks a skilled Maintenance Technician in Oceanside, CA to perform advanced maintenance on automation systems and machinery. You will diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic issues and lead preventive maintenance efforts.

Responsibilities include PLC troubleshooting, ladder logic analysis, and supporting the installation of new capital equipment, while training junior technicians and ensuring OSHA/Cal OSHA compliance.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 6 years’ automation experience.
  • Electromechanical certification is a plus.
  • PLC certification is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic repair.
  • Ability to read PLC ladder logic and control system diagrams.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Ability to train others and maintain safety standards.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Job description

Position Overview

Under limited supervision, performs highly complex maintenance related to operations, machinery equipment and automation systems like PLC programming issues. Incumbents perform major building electrical, construction and security equipment maintenance and repairs. Modifies, rebuilds and installs capital equipment. Trains lower-level maintenance technicians, including drafting of training manuals.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
  • Checks the operation of machines and trouble-shoots electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, equipment and automation problems.
  • Performs highly complex preventative and predictive maintenance on machines and equipment using various tools and equipment.
  • Trouble-shoots electrical and electronic controls on manufacturing equipment for rebuilding, repairing or fabricating purposes.
  • Diagnoses and resolves PLC issues with articulated robots using ladder logic and text-based logic programs.
  • Modifies and rebuilds manufacturing equipment to meet new machine requirements or production demands with engineering support. Provides input to proposed manufacturing equipment. Acts as Lead in the installation of new capital equipment.
  • Performs major building electrical, construction and security equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Understands and interprets electronic schematics for trouble-shooting equipment.
  • Maintains work orders on a daily and weekly basis. Documents all machine preventative, predictive and/or maintenance repairs clearly and concisely for historical and future maintenance purposes.
  • Continues education and/or training by taking a class related to maintenance technicians’ job on a continuous basis.
  • Follow safety regulations and adhering to OSHA and Cal OSHA standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, Experience
  • High School Diploma and 6 years’ experience in an automation environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Electromechanical Certificate, a plus.
  • PLC Certificate, a plus.
  • Advance knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic processes and repair methods/techniques.
  • Must understand PLC ladder logic and text-based logic programs within control systems for manufacturing equipment.
  • Intermediate to advance skills in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings, schematics and/or blueprints.
  • Ability to read safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to train others in the maintenance of machines and continuous learning and application of maintenance techniques/methods.
  • Organize and prioritize work orders while meeting deadlines to minimize production downtime.
  • Work under direct supervision, independently and foster a cooperative spirit within a large and/or small team.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) System.
CERTIFICATES And/or LICENSES
  • Electromechanical Certificate, a plus.
  • PLC Certificate, a plus.
  • Forklift, Genie Boom and Scissor Lift Certificates, a plus.
