Job summary

Hydranautics, part of the Nitto Group, seeks a Maintenance Technician III/Lead for on-site, California-based maintenance of automation and electrical systems. You will lead troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and upgrades of PLC-controlled equipment, with responsibility for safety and quality across shifts.

The role requires advanced knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, plus the ability to interpret schematics and train others.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required or equivalent; 5 years in an automation environment.
• Advanced knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic processes and repair methods.
• Must understand PLC ladder logic and text-based logic programs for manufacturing equipment.
• Reading electrical/mechanical drawings, schematics and blueprints is essential.
• Ability to train others and manage multiple work orders to minimize downtime.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under general supervision, performs moderately complex maintenance related to operations, machinery equipment and automation systems like PLC programming. Incumbents perform major building electrical, construction and security equipment maintenance and repairs. Modifies, rebuilds and installs capital equipment. LEADS: Maintenance Technicians III/Leads provide leadership, schedule work hours/assignments and training to assigned staff; in addition, assumes Maintenance Supervisors’ duties in their absence as it relates to work instructions only. Works flexible, alternate shifts: including nights, weekends and holidays as necessary.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Checks the operation of machines and trouble‑shoots electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, equipment and automation problems.
• Performs complex preventative and predictive maintenance on machines and equipment using various tools and equipment.
• Trouble‑shoots electrical and electronic controls on manufacturing equipment for rebuilding, repairing or fabricating purposes.
• Diagnoses and resolves PLC issues with articulated robots using ladder logic and text‑based logic programs.
• Modifies and rebuilds manufacturing equipment to meet new machinery requirements or production demands with engineering support.
• Performs major building electrical, construction and security equipment maintenance and repairs. May perform machinist duties.
• Understands and interprets electronic schematics for trouble‑shooting electronic equipment with minimal assistance.
• Documents all machine preventative, predictive and/or maintenance repairs clearly and concisely for historical and future maintenance purposes.
• Follows safety regulations and adheres to OSHA and Cal OSHA standards. Operates forklifts, Genie booms and scissor lifts.
• Performs minor repairs on electronic circuit boards/control panels which control the automation of manufacturing equipment (Lead only).
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma and 5 years’ experience in an automation environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Advanced knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic processes and repair methods/techniques.

Must understand PLC ladder logic and text‑based logic programs within control systems for manufacturing equipment.

Intermediate to advanced skills in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings, schematics and/or blueprints.

Ability to read safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Ability to train others in the maintenance of machines and continuous learning and application of maintenance techniques/methods.

Ability to prioritize work orders while meeting deadlines to minimize production downtime.

Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) System.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES:

Forklift, Genie Boom and Scissor Lift Certifications, a plus.

Salary $32.21 per hour
