Job summary

Burlington Stores is seeking a skilled Maintenance Lead Technician for our distribution center in Georgia. The role focuses on maintaining and optimizing material handling equipment, conveyors, robotics, and AS/RS, with emphasis on PLCs, sensors, and safety.

You’ll train technicians and coordinate with other shifts to maintain equipment uptime. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of mechanical/electrical maintenance experience, strong diagnostic skills, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 4+ years in mechanical/electrical maintenance in a DC.
  • Experience with MHE, conveyors, robotics, and AS/RS.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
  • Valid driver's license and PC/mobile app proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical aspects of MHE (conveyors, sortation, robotics, ASRS).
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, robots, sensors, and controls across systems.
  • Develop work plans for emergency repairs of critical assets.
  • Create and close Work Orders with labor hours, downtime, problem/cause/remedy, and parts used.
  • Follow safety procedures and use PPE; ensure a safe work environment.

Job description

Position OverviewAs a Burlington Maintenance Lead Technician, you will be a key technical subject matter expert that ensures high equipment availability rates. You will use preventive and predictive maintenance processes, rapidly troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, and quickly restore equipment to service to support the successful operation of the supply chain facility. You will work with other Burlington maintenance technicians to solve difficult problems, validate quality of work for outside specialty contractors, work with building leaders to optimize material handling equipment, handle multiple projects, and work with a sense of urgency. You will collaborate with others to perform Root Cause Analysis for equipment failures and fix systemic issues using careful observation and diagnostic tools. You will have an expert understanding of system controls logic and troubleshooting techniques. As the technical subject matter expert on a shift, you will also act as a technical trainer, sharing your knowledge with maintenance technicians and technician trainees to enhance their technical skills and job knowledge. You will operate Burlington-owned vehicles to complete maintenance activities on the exterior of the facility and within the trailer yard, as well as travel to nearby facilities to procure parts and supplies as needed.SHIFT: Monday through Thursday 2nd shiftA Day in the LifeMaintain and troubleshoot electrical/mechanical aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including conveyors, sortation, robotics, or Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS)Control and adjust positioning accuracy and timingControl and adjust scanners, cameras, scales and printer applicatorsControl, reset, repair or replace adjustable components (belts, chains, cables) and wearing components (guides, bearings, wheels, rollers, pulleys)Clean, lubricate, and calibrate equipmentInstall, maintain, and troubleshoot relay logic, ladder diagrams, and control components- photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, Servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachometers and encodersTroubleshoot PLC programs, components (CPU back plains, I/O boards, counters, modules, and devices), field buses (ASI, Profibus, DeviceNet, etc.), and communications modules (Ethernet).Configure and adjust PLC parameters and component setupConduct maintenance and higher-level troubleshooting of any robot typeTroubleshoot power distribution systems, branch circuits, lighting systems, transformers, and wiring methods and materials, up to 480VDevelop work plans with peer technicians for emergency repair of critical assetsUtilize handheld devices and asset management system mobile apps to create and close Work Orders with appropriate data (labor hours, downtime, problem/cause/remedy, and parts used)Develop and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organizationFollow appropriate safety procedures and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment (Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, etc.), and ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazards.You'll Come WithHigh school diploma or equivalent required4+ years’ experience in the Mechanical or Electrical maintenance field in a distribution center environmentPossess or ability to obtain a valid driver’s licenseExcellent PC competency and ability to use mobile apps on handheld devicesFamiliar with wiring diagrams, symbols and electrical measuringExperience in the following areas:Preventive/predictive maintenance proceduresCommonly used industrial toolsBasic Carpentry and PlumbingBasic metal fabrication and weldingBlueprint and schematic readingWork order managementIndustrial Electrical, Controls and ElectronicsProgrammable Logic Control (PLC) programsNational Electrical Code (NEC) and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standardsAutomated material handling equipment or robotic maintenancePreferred QualificationsDegree from a technical or community college, or accredited industrial maintenance certifications (PLCs, Industrial Networks, Machine Logic, Robotics), with a focus in the Mechanical/Electrical fieldsExperience with automated conveyor systems and controlsExperience with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standardsExperience with Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programs and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs)Ability to troubleshoot Input/Output functionsExperience with robotic operation/maintenancePhysical Requirements (must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation)Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the headLift and move totes or cartons up to 49 pounds eachWalking within and around the site with great frequencyAbility to climb ladders and gangways safely and without limitation, and work off platforms and equipment at significant heightsFull manual dexterity in both hands and wrists, eye/hand coordination, feet (foot pedals), manual (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation)Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfacesAbility to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hoursCome join our team.
