Harbor’s Edge Norfolk seeks a Maintenance Technician I (Generalist) to perform a range of maintenance tasks across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting to keep our community safe and comfortable for residents, staff, and visitors.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and 1–3 years of general maintenance experience, with a strong focus on reliability, safety, and excellent resident service. This is a full-time on-site position at our Norfolk campus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• 1–3 years of general maintenance experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
• Ability to troubleshoot and complete repairs independently.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and customer service skills with senior residents.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment.
• Inspect facilities regularly to identify and resolve issues.
• Maintain common areas, resident units, and outdoor spaces in excellent condition.
• Assist with unit turnovers, including minor repairs, cleaning, and preparation for new residents.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and community policies.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance logs.
