From repairing a leaky faucet or replacing a light fixture to painting, completing minor carpentry, maintaining equipment, or preparing a facility for winter weather, you’ll be the person who helps keep things running smoothly. You’ll travel to multiple locations throughout Michigan, respond to maintenance needs, troubleshoot problems, and find practical solutions—all while providing exceptional customer service.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work, and can look at a problem and figure out how to fix it.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide friendly, professional, and responsive service to internal and external customers.
  • Travel to multiple Hope Network locations throughout Michigan to assess and address maintenance needs.
  • Respond to work orders and complete repairs in a timely manner while communicating with program staff and leadership.
  • Troubleshoot maintenance issues and identify practical, effective solutions.
  • Perform a variety of general maintenance and repair tasks, including:
    • Minor plumbing and electrical repairs
    • Light fixture, outlet, shelving, and lighting control installation
    • Toilet, sink, faucet, blind, and flooring repair/replacement
    • Minor carpentry, including decks, cabinets, and bookcases
    • Painting, wall hangings, and window treatments
    • Caulking, weather-stripping, molding, and power washing
    • Furniture and equipment moving and storage
    • Light shrub and tree trimming
  • Support fire and life-safety readiness by inspecting fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, fire doors, exits, and sprinkler systems.
  • Assist with groundskeeping, snow removal, and snowplowing as needed.
  • Perform routine inspections of buildings, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Order, pick up, and deliver equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Maintain accurate work orders, receipts, time records, and documentation.
  • Identify and promptly report safety concerns to leadership.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
  • Work respectfully and sensitively around the individuals we serve.
  • Follow AFC licensing requirements, Hope Network policies, safety standards, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Maintain required training and certifications.
  • Work independently while also collaborating effectively with supervisors, program teams, and other departments.
  • Provide support or oversight to consumer employees when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent related experience.
  • At least 1 year of related maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of common maintenance tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Ability to safely and effectively use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material-handling equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose, repair, test, and adjust equipment and fixtures.
  • Excellent communication, organization, teamwork, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and use good judgment.
  • A professional, dependable, and service-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets Hope Network requirements.
  • Ability to travel independently between assigned locations.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of the individuals we serve.
  • Ability to complete and maintain all required training, certifications, and credentials.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred, but not required.
