Eastern Avenue Apartments in Seat Pleasant, MD seeks Maintenance Technician I to lead day-to-day property operations, ensuring a safe, well-maintained community and supporting housing stability for residents.

You’ll perform repairs and upkeep for interiors and exteriors, participate in on-call rotation, and collaborate with a caring team to deliver reliable service to residents at Volunteers of America National Services’ Eastern Avenue site.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 6 months of full-time experience in building maintenance.
• Proficient in reading and writing English; follow safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Make recommendations on repairs and property improvements.
• Repair and paint exterior as needed and ensure adequate lighting.
• Schedule and expedite work orders; maintain orderly storage.
• Work on-call to provide 24-hour maintenance coverage.
• Follow all safety protocols and complete required training.

Maintenance Technician I Job Highlights:

• Shift: 8:30am-5:00pm Monday-Friday with occasional weekends
• Rotating On Call - must have reliable transportation
• Pay Rate: $26.00-$28.00 p/h based on years of experience

What You Bring (Requirements)

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 6 months of full-time experience in building maintenance
• Proficient in English. Must have the ability to read and write in English
• Able to follow both verbal and written English instructions
• Ability to follow proper safety protocols
• Know how to turn the water valve and electricity off in case of emergency
• Must have reliable transportation.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of basic machinery and tools
• Construction experience and/or maintenance of equipment and utility experience

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Make recommendations to Community Administrator on necessary maintenance repairs, preventive maintenance, and property improvements.
• Repair and paint the building exterior as needed.
• Maintain adequate lighting for the interior and exterior of the property.
• Schedule and expedite work order request.
• Maintain a clean and orderly storage room.
• Must be capable of using and climbing an extension ladder to access the roof, windows, and siding to make repairs as needed.
• Safety: Know, follow and enforce facility safety rules.
• Complete required training.
• Available to work on-call to ensure that twenty-four (24) hour maintenance is provided to the properties.
