Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. in Chico, CA, is seeking a Maintenance Technician 3 or 4 - Electrical.

This seasoned role focuses on installation, testing, repair and preventative maintenance of manufacturing and facilities equipment, with emphasis on PLC programs and motor control systems. Candidates should have 5 years industrial electrical experience, read schematics, and be familiar with NFPA 70E and Lockout procedures.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree preferred or technical training.
• 5 years industrial related work experience required.
• Experience with programming, PLCs, VFDs, industrial Ethernet, digital and analog controls required.
• Broad knowledge of industrial electrical systems and power distribution.
• Must read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and one-line prints.
• Experience with shop tools and PPE usage is required.
• Driver's license without major violations in last 3 years; Heavy equipment certification may be required.
• Compliance with confined space, NFPA 70E and lockout procedures is essential.

Get to Know This Role

The Maintenance Technician 3 or 4 - Electrical is a seasoned Maintenance Technician with knowledge and experience in PLC programs and motor control systems. As a member of the Maintenance Department this position is a highly visible role within the brewery. Work duties are varied, and Maintenance Technicians are responsible for providing technical and diagnostic expertise related to the installation, removal, testing, repair and preventative maintenance of manufacturing production and facilities equipment.

NOTE: Selected candidate may be offered a Tech 3 or 4 role depending on relevant experience and qualifications.

What You Will Do

• Keep electrical components running properly, making repairs or replacements including motors, starters, fuses, disconnects, instrumentation, relays, switches, position sensors.
• Conduct and complete PMs and work orders, addressing issues as they arise (repairs, inspections and necessary adjustments) to include the assistance of maintenance personnel when needed
• Troubleshoot manufacturing instrumentation; verify/correct appropriate temperature, pressure, and flow control loops ensuring the quality of our product is not compromised
• Work directly with production personnel to isolate and repair equipment problems quickly
• Responsible for writing PLC programs, motor control systems and control networks including installation, programming, maintenance, testing and repairs
• Evaluate system performance and recommend/implement upgrades for reliable and optimum performance
• Perform RCA work to determine root cause of the problem and perform other continuous improvement activities to improve OEE, downtime and reduce scrap work
• Conduit bending and installations, pulling and terminating wiring, and other electrical related tasks
• Ability to lead/motivate and train lower level techs. Conduct and write SOP’s for critical functions such as calibrations, rebuilds, repairs, high level troubleshooting.
  
• This role is responsible for production and support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Safe Quality Food (SQF) System as defined in the SQF Code. There will be Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety and Food Security Training as required by Local, State, Federal and SNBC policies. All duties will be completed in a manner that is consistent with all aspects of Company Safety Rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF). Employees shall report food safety & quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

• Associate's Degree preferred or
• Technical school training preferred
• 5 years Industrial related work experience required and
• Experience with programming, PLCs, VFDs, industrial Ethernet, digital and analog controls required
• Broad knowledge of industrial electrical systems and power distribution
• Know, understand and be compliant with Confined Space Entry procedure, NFPA 70E and Lockout procedure is essential
• Ability to read, understand and work from electrical schematics, ladder logic, one-line prints, equipment cut sheets and manufacturer-provided drawings is a must
• Ability to set-up and operate shop tools such as drill press, conduit bender, grinder, and other hand tools necessary to complete a repair and/or installation
• Ability to properly use PPE is required
• Driver's License free of any major moving violations within the last three years upon hire required
• Internal Certification to Operate Heavy Equipment including forklifts, scissor lifts, genie booms, etc. within 90 Days required
