Job summary

Olympic Steel is seeking a Maintenance Tech to support safety, quality, and efficiency improvements across production and office equipment. You will troubleshoot issues, plan layouts and maintenance procedures, and continuously learn to keep machines in good repair.

The role involves working across hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, and electrical systems in a heavy industrial environment with opportunities for career growth and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Willingness to learn maintenance across hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, PLCs, and electrical maintenance.
• Experience in heavy industrial settings preferred.
• Experience with hand tools and precision instruments a plus.
• Experience with forklifts or PITs preferred.
• Knowledge of crane operation and lifting devices.
• Flexible work schedule and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot equipment as issues arise.
• Plan procedures for layout, installation, and maintenance of production and office machines/equipment.
• Keep machines running and in good repair through ongoing learning.

Job Description

The Maintenance Tech position supports and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives and strives to improve safety, quality, and efficiency in all areas of responsibility. This person will have a basic knowledge of equipment, with the ability to troubleshoot problems as they arise. The Maintenance Tech plans procedures for the layout, construction, installation and maintenance of all production and office machines/equipment. He/she will also continuously learn more about the machines to keep them running and in good repair.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Strong desire to learn different areas of maintenance, including hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, PLCs, and electrical maintenance
• Previous experience in a heavy industrial setting strongly preferred
• Previous experience with hand tools and precision instruments a plus
• Experience with forklifts or other PITs strongly preferred
• General knowledge of crane operation and ancillary lifting devices
• Flexibility of work schedule
• Working knowledge of general computer programs
