JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician II will lead a team to ensure a safe and well-maintained store environment for Nordstrom customers and employees. Supporting the Facility Manager (FM), this role ensures stores are operational daily, focusing on key areas such as HVAC, vertical transportation, restaurant facilities, entries, signs, and building systems.

  • Respond to daily maintenance requests, troubleshoot complex issues, and delegate work orders to team members.
  • Communicate with Store Leadership, participate in meetings, support vendor relations, and handle administrative tasks like ordering parts.

As a lead technician, you will repair and maintain equipment and systems, mentor other technicians, and support multiple Nordstrom stores and Nordstrom Rack locations within a business node.

A day in the life…

  • Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance on critical and non-critical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems affecting store operations.
  • Operate and monitor building controls and systems, troubleshoot alarms, and verify proper operation.
  • Lead building rounds, identify malfunctions, and report issues.
  • Perform manual tasks such as lifting and moving materials.
  • Assist with administrative tasks including parts ordering, vendor management, and meetings.
  • Promote safety by following procedures and acting as a safety champion.
  • Represent the facilities team in meetings, document outcomes, and share notes.
  • Complete maintenance routines with proper documentation, mentor technicians, and train new employees.
  • Respond to emergencies and update the CMMS to maintain accurate records and inventory.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and property managers, ensuring compliance with safety and building codes.

You’ve got this if…

  • You have a High School Diploma/GED; higher education preferred.
  • You possess 5-7 years of hands-on facilities experience, especially in mechanical maintenance.
  • You have 5+ years of experience with predictive and preventive maintenance, HVAC, refrigeration, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs.
  • You can troubleshoot electrical inputs/outputs, low voltage signals, and logical devices.
  • You can work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively across organizational levels.
  • You are dedicated to safety, customer service, and self-motivated.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office, familiar with CMMS and ordering systems like Coupa, and have knowledge of networking systems.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • You can maintain a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and off-hours.

Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing, and lifting loads over 50 lbs.

Pay Range Details

In New York, the pay range is $23.75 - $41.25 hourly, subject to location-specific laws.
