Job summary

H M DUNN COMPANY INC is seeking a skilled technician to install, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment at our Wichita facility. You will handle electrical systems, high voltage equipment, and preventive maintenance while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities include resolving machine malfunctions, welding and fabricating parts, and performing facilities maintenance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience with CNC and manual machines in an aircraft parts environment preferred.
  • Experience with Makino, Fanuc, Siemens and Mazatrol controls preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect machinery and equipment for proper operation.
  • Detect malfunctions and discuss issues with supervisors to diagnose problems.
  • Dismantle machines and install repaired parts.
  • Install and repair high voltage electrical systems and components.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and fluid changes.
  • Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate parts.
  • Operate welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Perform facilities maintenance (carpentry, lighting, plumbing).
  • Comply with all safety rules and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with EH&S to file environmental paperwork.

JOB SUMMARY

Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and electrical systems at assigned facilities. Manages used oil, universal waste, and hazardous waste satellite and storage containers.

TRAINING

Hazardous waste training shall be provided to employee within six months of the date the employee filled this position. A review of hazardous waste training shall be provided every 12 months thereafter. Employee shall be supervised until training has been completed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Inspect machinery and equipment for proper operation
  • Detect equipment and machinery malfunctions and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine
  • Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts
  • Install and repair high voltage 480/208 3 phase electrical apparatus, 120/277/208/240/480 electrical systems such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic (low voltage) components of machinery and equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as filter and fluid changes, fluid refills, lubricating, greasing, hose and wiring inspections, chip removal from the machine and conveyors, residue and contaminant removal, and necessary repairs
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools
  • Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts
  • Perform facilities maintenance and repairs such as carpentry, painting, lighting, electrical, and plumbing
  • Comply with all company safety rules and regulations
  • Work with EH&S Manager to file environmental paperwork to maintain compliance.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all contacts

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Previous experience working on a variety of CNC and manual machines required; experience in an aircraft parts manufacturing and assembly environment preferred
  • Previous experience with Makino machines, preferred
  • Experience working with electrical and electronic components of CNC and manual machines preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience working with Fanuc, Siemens and Mazatrol controls, preferred
  • Ability to apply basic math, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal
  • Ability to communicate verbally in one-on-one situations with management and co-workers; listen to others without interrupting and get clarification when needed
  • Ability to safely and properly use gauges, calipers, and other tools and equipment
  • Ability to identify proper materials and supplies according to specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy
  • Exhibit dependability, including following instructions; responding to supervisor’s direction; and taking responsibility for own actions
  • Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed; performs work independently without being prompted
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently; and work within deadlines
  • Ability to operate a company vehicle, requiring a valid drivers license and a satisfactory driving record as determined by our insurance provider
  • Ability to workin an elevated environment or heights exceeding 20 feet
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident (ITAR requirement)
