Job summary

Norsk Hydro in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a maintenance technician to perform electrical troubleshooting, interpret electrical diagrams, and diagnose PLC-related issues. You will support hydraulic systems and inspect mechanical devices to identify faults and improve reliability.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of relevant experience, and ability to read schematics. English basic command required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a maintenance position.
  • Ability to read schematics and interpret diagrams.
  • Must understand and deliver basic commands in English.
  • Able to use and maintain common maintenance tools and measuring devices.
  • Proficient with hydraulic systems maintenance and repair.
  • Experience with hydraulic brands (Oil Gear, Rex Roth, Racine, Vickers) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performs electrical troubleshooting and interprets electrical diagrams and symbols.
  • Hydraulic system knowledge used to troubleshoot and make repairs.
  • Reads and interprets PLC programs and troubleshoots PLC hardware/software.
  • Identifies stored energy and performs Lockout/Tag-out procedures.
  • Observes and maintains mechanical devices and components in operation.
  • Dismantles devices to access defective parts and inspects for defects.
  • Participates in continuous reliability improvements of equipment and processes.
  • Contribute to continuous reliability improvement of equipment and processes.

Job description

Location: Phoenix, AZ, US, 85043. Career area: Maintenance Department: Maint Shift 1 Job Type: Permanent. Position will be posted until filled.

12-hour shift. Must be able to work BOTH day and night shift. 6AM to 6PM OR 6PM to 6AM

What you will be doing
  • Performs electrical troubleshooting and interprets electrical diagrams and symbols.
  • Hydraulic system knowledge used to troubleshoot and make repairs.
  • Reads and interprets PLC programs. Trouble shoots problems in PLC hardware and software,
  • Identifies stored energy and performs all Lockout/Tag-out procedures according to company policy.
  • Observes mechanical devices such as presses and draw benches in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Participates and is fully engaged in continuous reliability improvement of all equipment and processes.
What will make you successful?
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar position.
  • Must be able to understand and deliver basic commands in English.
  • Must be able to use and maintain all basic tools and measuring equipment pertinent to a maintenance position.
  • Must be able to read and interpret schematics.
  • Provides routine maintenance on hydraulic systems such as Oil Gear, Rex Roth, Racine, Vickers, etc.
  • Proficiency in complex combustion/gas train repair and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree or Certificate from college or trade school.
