Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician for our high-volume automotive metal stamping facility in Smyrna, TN. You will maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize heavy-duty presses, robotic automation, and metal-forming production lines that supply major automotive OEMs.

The role requires at least 5 years of experience in maintenance, no degree required, and hands-on expertise with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, PLCs, and safety circuits.

Qualifications

• 5 years of maintenance experience in heavy industrial settings.
• Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical failures.
• Knowledge of 24VDC to 480V/600VAC power and safety circuits.
• Experience with PLCs and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults.
• Maintain stamping presses, robots, conveyors, forklifts, and cranes.
• Work with PLCs, VFDs, and motor controls on automated lines.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspect critical components.
• Document maintenance activities and follow 5S standards.
• Assist with plant utility systems and safety compliance.

Maintenance Technician | Automotive Metal Stamping

Location: Smyrna, TN

Type: Full-Time

We are hiring a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our high-volume automotive metal stamping and assembly facility in Smyrna, TN. You will play a vital role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing heavy-duty mechanical presses, robotic automation, and advanced metal-forming production lines supplying major automotive OEMs.

Responsibilities

Core Duties & Responsibilities

• Equipment Repair & Troubleshooting: Diagnose, analyze, and repair complex failures in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Systems Covered: Maintain and service stamping equipment/presses, automated welding robots, scrap conveyors, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
• Electrical & PLC Work: Troubleshoot electrical systems ranging from low voltage (24VDC) up to 480V/600VAC (single and 3-phase power, motor controls, VFDs, and safety circuits). Edit, create, and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Preventative Maintenance (PM): Perform routine inspections, instrument readings, function checks, and leak detections to identify early signs of wear and prevent unplanned downtime.
• Utility & Facility Support: Assist with the upkeep of plant utility systems, including cooling water systems, compressed air/pneumatics, natural gas supply, fire protection, and HVAC systems.
• Documentation & 5S: Analyze wiring diagrams, blueprints, and circuit schematics. Maintain detailed maintenance records and keep work areas compliant with 5S organization and cleanliness standards.

The essential functions of this role include:

• wearing steel toe shoes
• working in a non-temperature controlled environment
• manual lifting up to 70lbs
• standing for 5 hours at one time
