Job summary

Target Steel Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep production equipment operating safely, reliably, and efficiently. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and repair presses, slitting lines, and support equipment.

This hands-on role works closely with production and supports all departments by minimizing downtime and maintaining equipment performance. Strong problem-solving and safety mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and other documentation.
• Ability to use hand and power tools effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and safety awareness.
• Preferred: basic knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment, including presses, slitting lines, and support equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues; repair or replace defective components.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and work with production to minimize downtime.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections to identify potential problems and support reliable operation.
• Assist with the installation and setup of new equipment.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation of repairs.
• Follow company policies and safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and proper use of PPE.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.
• Communicate professionally with coworkers, management, customers, and vendors.
