Job summary

Schulte Hospitality Group is seeking an energetic Maintenance Engineer to join our team on a part-time, on-site basis in Columbia, SC. The role involves supervising grounds, public areas and guest rooms, and performing preventive maintenance across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry disciplines.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in hotel maintenance (or comparable) and demonstrates strong communication skills, reliability, and a customer-focused approach to support guests and staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years in hotel maintenance (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general carpentry
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Responsibilities

• Oversees property grounds, public areas and guest rooms
• Performs preventative maintenance to prevent breakdowns in hotel accommodations
• Checks fixtures, lighting and signs for proper operation; maintains spare parts and bulbs
• Responds to maintenance orders promptly and fulfills work orders
• Completes daily rounds and reports problems
• Performs various other duties as assigned

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversees the property grounds, public areas and hotel guest rooms
• Conducts preventative maintenance to prevent breakdowns in hotel accommodations
• Check fixtures, lighting, and signs for proper operation; maintain an adequate supply of spare parts and light bulbs
• Responds to maintenance orders in a timely manner
• Fulfills work orders in a timely manner
• Completed daily rounds, identifying and reporting problems
• Perform various other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of three (2) years in a hotel maintenance position preferred
• Preferred but not necessary, one (1) year of college or trade school equivalent in a mechanical, electrical, and/or technical disciplines
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and general carpentry

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Basic math skills
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Ability to exceed expectations of guests and team members
