Job summary

Universal Stainless & Alloy Products, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Tech to inspect, repair and maintain mechanical and hydraulic equipment across the Dunkirk facility.

You will interpret blueprints, perform welding and fabrications, and operate overhead cranes or forklifts as needed. The role requires mechanical aptitude, analytical skills, and basic welding capabilities, with training in hydraulic/pneumatic systems and industrial maintenance practices.

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on mechanical aptitude and basic welding skills.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
• Experience maintaining and repairing industrial equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair mechanical and hydraulic equipment in assigned areas and throughout the facility.
• Perform repairs: pumps, boiler work, pipe fitting; inspect and maintain rolling mill and furnace equipment.
• Assemble/dismantle mechanical/hydraulic equipment and operate cranes or fork trucks as needed.
• Weld, cut, burn when required and follow blueprints/technical sketches.
• Maintain a safe, clean working area and follow supervision guidance.

Primary Function

• Maintain and repair mechanical and hydraulic equipment in assigned areas, and throughout facility.

Primary responsibilities are defined by the following, but those listed are not all-inclusive:

• Perform miscellaneous repair work, including but not limited to installing pumps, boiler repair, pipe fitting, etc.
• Inspects, repairs, and maintains facility equipment, including but not limited to rolling mill equipment, furnace mechanical equipment, mechanical shears, annealing equipment.
• Assemble, dismantle and adjust mechanical, and hydraulic equipment, including but not limited to conveyors, mill stands, mill housings, etc.
• Perform welding, cutting, and burning when needed.
• Interprets blueprints, and technical sketches.
• Operate overhead crane and/or fork truck to move supplies and equipment.
• Maintains a safe, and clean working area.
• Any and all duties assigned.

Sources of Supervision

• Generally, works independently and requires minimum direction.
• Position reports to the Supervisor of Maintenance.

Tools and Equipment

Drill press, power saw, portable drill and grinders, bench tools, cutting torch, welding and burning equipment, overhead pendant crane, chain clocks and falls, air hoists, pipe wrenches, crow bars, sledges, eye bolts, hammers, pressure, flow gauges, cold chisels, punches, gauges, grab hooks, hydraulic fitting die press, and miscellaneous hand tools.
