Stepan Company in Illinois is seeking a Maintenance Team Leader to guide maintenance and contractor teams, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable maintenance execution aligned with site objectives. You will coordinate with Maintenance Coordinators and Operations to prioritize work and support production goals, while enforcing permits, safety rules, and regulatory standards.

The role requires 5+ years in industrial maintenance with leadership experience; SAP PM familiarity is preferred.

Qualifications

• Five years of industrial maintenance experience required; eight years preferred.
• Three years of leadership, supervisory, or crew lead experience in an industrial environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, equipment drawings, technical manuals, and maintenance documentation.
• Working knowledge of industrial maintenance practices, equipment, and systems.
• Experience using maintenance management systems; SAP Plant Maintenance (SAP PM) experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of maintenance planning, work execution, safety procedures, and reliability improvement principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance and contractor personnel in the safe execution of maintenance activities to maximize equipment performance and uptime.
• Coordinate daily maintenance execution with Maintenance Coordinators and Operations to prioritize work and support production targets.
• Ensure compliance with maintenance processes, scheduling requirements, work permits, lockout/tagout (LOTO), safety procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Issue flawless work permits, including hot work, confined space entry, and line break.
• Develop, coach, and hold team members accountable for performance, safety, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Support maintenance planning and scheduling by providing execution input, resource requirements, and progress tracking for repair and project activities.
• Manage maintenance resources and contractors to ensure effective workforce utilization, productivity, and cost control.
• Promote efficient work execution by ensuring work orders, tools, materials, and job plans are available and properly coordinated.
• Conduct field observations and audits to verify safe work practices, work quality, productivity, and compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, reliability, equipment performance, and maintenance effectiveness.
