Maintenance Support Worker (HVAC) (17282)

Position Overview

Florida A&M University Facilities, Planning, Construction and Safety/Plant Operations & Maintenance/Utilities Maintenance Department (HVAC Shop) is accepting applications for the Maintenance Support Worker, Position #17282.

Responsibilities

1. Perform preventive maintenance on air handling units, pumps, and related HVAC equipment.
2. Change filters in air conditioning units/air handling units, tighten v-belt on equipment, grease bearings, and address mechanical issues via work orders.
3. Complete AHU-AC Unit Filter Replacement forms, maintain records, and restock filters by size.
4. Properly lift and install equipment, parts, supplies, and tools (up to 75 lbs.), and assist other technicians.
5. Carry tools and equipment, walk up to 4 floors, and perform tasks such as tightening connections, wiring splices, insulating, repairing wiring, and replacing pneumatic tubing.
6. Assist in testing and calibrating thermostats and electronic equipment.
7. Pick up parts and materials, and operate campus HVAC control systems software.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, with at least one year of related experience. College coursework or vocational training may substitute experience.

Recommended Competencies

• Knowledge of equipment maintenance procedures.
• Skill in using HVAC tools.
• Understanding of HVAC system operation.
• Ability to plan, organize, and lift at least 75 lbs.
• Mechanical aptitude and record-keeping skills.
• Effective communication and ability to follow instructions.

Salary and Conditions

Annual salary: $31,320 or $15/hour. Valid Driver's License required. This is a USPS position. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment screening.
