Job summary

Defoor Hospitality Group is seeking a hotel maintenance professional in Chattanooga to keep property repairs and safety at a high standard. You will respond to guest needs quickly, complete work orders, and uphold brand safety protocols.

The role requires multi-trade skills (carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical), a valid driver’s license, a flexible schedule, and a strong commitment to guest satisfaction. Courtesy and teamwork are essential to success on site.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair routine mechanical and plumbing malfunctions in hotel systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all assigned work orders in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to brand maintenance and safety standards.
  • Know life safety systems including fire alarm and evacuation procedures.
  • Test and maintain water content of pool and whirlpool per local/state rules.
  • Inspect, maintain, and clean exterior grounds including parking lot and landscaping.
  • Repair furniture and structures; perform painting and finishing work.
  • Inspect and repair electrical systems and plumbing systems in hotel.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and uniform.
  • Report guest issues promptly to management.
  • Ensure security of guests, staff, and hotel assets.
  • Follow brand training and safety protocols.

Job description

Job Summary

Keeps every aspect of the property in good repair and safe working order. Maintains a high-quality level of work. Responds to the guest’s needs in a timely, efficient, friendly, and professional manner.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Ensure all work orders assigned are completed in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all brand standards for maintenance and safety.
  • Knowledge of all life safety systems including fire alarm and evacuation procedures.
  • Tests and maintains water content of swimming pool and whirlpool in accordance with local and state requirements as directed.
  • Inspects, maintains, and cleans outside grounds, including parking lot, curbs, and landscaping.
  • Repair furniture and structures such as cabinets, tables, chairs, windows, bed frames, etc.
  • Does painting, touch-up painting, and finishing of furniture and building.
  • Checks electrical systems such as refrigerator controls, phone systems, televisions, lock systems, HVAC units and making repairs as necessary.
  • Checks and makes quality repairs on general plumbing systems such as pipelines, toilets, tubs, sinks, whirlpools, pools and drains.
  • Maintain a clean and attractive work area, uniform, and person.
  • Maintain and test all life safety systems as directed.
  • Must be responsible for security of guests, fellow employees and hotel assets.
  • Must be CPR certified, MSDS trained, and completed brand specific training program.
  • Must perform any other required duties as requested by the Chief Engineer, General Manager, and Manager on Duty to aid in better operation of the hotel, restaurant, lounge, and service to the guests.
  • Keep confidential the business functions of the company including, but not limited to, financial status, customer/guest information, employee issues, etc.
  • Communicates with guests in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Does not make any purchases without purchase order approved by Chief Engineer and General Manager
  • Immediately reports guest issues to Manager on Duty
  • Always in proper uniform.
  • Never eats, drinks, or smokes in guest view.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation available to pick up supplies.
  • Must possess general knowledge in carpentry, dry walling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping.
  • Must have an outgoing personality and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and Holidays.
  • Must be dependable, honest and work well with others.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and repair routine mechanical and plumbing malfunctions in hotel systems and equipment.
  • Must be willing and able to be responsive to complaints about maintenance.
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. –
  • Always maintain a professional appearance and manner. Can communicate well with guests. Must be willing to "pitch-in" and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player.
  • Must be able to recognize potential safety hazards and security problems in the hotel and act upon each accordingly
Physical Requirements
  • Stand/walk on feet for 8 hours and work in a restrictive space/environment.
  • Must have eyesight enabling vision both near and far.
  • Finger dexterity for operating machinery and hand tools, computer.
  • Must speak in a clear, understandable voice and hear at a basic level, and understand English.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch arms overhead and lift and/or carry up to 100 pounds.
