JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for planning, supervising, and coordinating maintenance operations to provide timely and cost-effective maintenance services for Westlake. Ensures all work performed by team members complies with Westlake safety standards and general policies and objectives outlined by the Plant Manager. The incumbent acts as a working supervisor to assigned maintenance staff and manages daily tasks. The duties listed below illustrate the various types of work that may be performed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Comply with Westlake Safety Policies and Procedures.
Ensure regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility.
Responsible for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, and PM scheduling/servicing of all plant machinery.
Manage the schedule of department personnel and oversee the efficient maintenance and upkeep of production machinery and equipment.
Address maintenance issues related to facilities, utilities, and building & grounds.
Demonstrate leadership, training abilities, and cross-functional management and technical skills to lead the maintenance team.
Arrange and coordinate annual fire inspections with the local fire department.
Direct the maintenance of facility equipment, auxiliary equipment, support systems, electrical and mechanical systems, compressed gas and air systems, cooling systems, refrigeration systems, rental equipment, and more to ensure uninterrupted facility operations.
Ensure maintenance personnel are available during plant operation hours to maintain efficient operations (provisions for "on-call" personnel as needed).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
The employee should possess the following abilities:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with the facility's MES system.
Knowledge of ERP systems, including Infor PM/Asset Management System (EAM).
Coordinate internal safety inspections to meet OSHA, ANSI, DEP, insurance carrier, local, county, state, federal, and other pertinent regulations. Follow up on deficiencies and recommendations, working closely with the EH&S Supervisor.
Provide staff training on various safety and maintenance topics, including but not limited to LOTO, Fall Protection, proper PPE, PMs, TPM, effective use of maintenance logs, equipment operations, and LEAN Manufacturing tools and processes, with a continuous improvement mindset.
Develop, schedule, and control a preventive maintenance program to keep production machinery and support equipment/systems in proper working condition.
Inspect jobs during and after completion to ensure standards of workmanship and safety are maintained.
Maintain inventories of maintenance materials, supplies, and repair parts at required levels by initiating requisitions for purchase.
Coordinate plant-wide communication and execution of corrective and preventive maintenance in line with operating procedures, practices, and financial considerations.
Display tact, diplomacy, and empathy-knowing how to bridge gaps in understanding and being sensitive to others.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in the development of policies and procedures related to safety, maintenance, and personnel.
Contribute to annual budget preparation concerning safety, maintenance, and personnel.
Implement capital projects to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
Serve on committees as deemed necessary by the individual or assigned by management.
Travel to suppliers, company-owned facilities, or other locations may occasionally be required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
At least five years of supervisory experience with technical, managerial, and financial expertise.
Multilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
High School Diploma or GED required.
PLC programming capabilities preferred.
Experience with automated processing centers (e.g., GED and Joseph) preferred.
Valid driver’s license required.
Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and EPA regulations.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee should have the ability to:
Work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Tolerate working in environments where inside ambient temperatures may reach 100+ degrees.
Lift, climb, bend, kneel, twist, pry, pull/push, sit, stand, walk, and ascend/descend stairs and ladders.
Lift up to 50 lbs.
Wear all required personal protective equipment (e.g., hearing and vision protection).
