About the Role
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading the shift maintenance team to keep production and packaging equipment running safely, reliably, and in compliance with food safety standards. This is a hands‑on floor leadership role focused on daily maintenance priorities, safe work execution, downtime response, preventive maintenance, accurate work order documentation, and strong communication with production, QA, sanitation, stores, and the Maintenance Manager.
- Lead shift operations: Conduct shift handoffs, inspect the floor before startup, confirm QA release, run crew huddles, and assign qualified technicians to each line or job.
- Enforce safety standards: Ensure LOTO, machine guarding, PPE, permits, and safe work practices are followed; stop unsafe work immediately and lead incident or near‑miss follow‑up.
- Maintain food safety and GMP compliance: Enforce GMPs, tool control, zoning, allergen awareness, housekeeping, and QA or sanitation sign‑off before equipment restarts after maintenance.
- Manage downtime and reliability: Prioritize breakdowns based on safety, food safety, and production impact; assign the right people and parts; document root causes; and drive permanent fixes for repeat failures.
- Oversee PMs and work orders: Review PM compliance, schedule preventive work around production and sanitation, and ensure MaintainX work orders are complete, accurate, and audit‑ready.
- Coach and develop the team: Train, cross‑train, guide, and hold technicians accountable for safe, effective, and well‑documented maintenance work.
- Track and report performance: Monitor downtime, OEE, PM completion, safety incidents, food safety findings, open issues, temporary repairs, and parts gaps, then report key updates to the Maintenance Manager.
