Job summary

UFP Industries in Athens, Alabama, is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to direct the maintenance department, supervise staff, and coordinate repair and preventive maintenance programs.

You will train employees, enforce safety rules, work with other departments to meet production needs, and drive continuous improvement across the plant while maintaining records and reporting as required.

Qualifications

• Post-high school education is required.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in machine repair and maintenance.
• 1 to 3 years of experience managing people.
• Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and control technology, and welding.
• Working knowledge of safe equipment practices and applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
• Working knowledge of hazardous wage and hazardous material handling procedures and practices.
• Working knowledge of the use of precision tools, measuring instruments, and other hand tools.
• Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and other business software.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Assists in interviews and hiring processes
• Orientates and trains maintenance personnel
• Coaches, counsel employees, and initiates discipline as required
• Evaluates the performance of subordinates
• Develops and implements preventative and other maintenance programs to ensure proper equipment operation
• Identifies, researches, and resolves problems
• Coordinates maintenance activities with the operating department's requirements
• Leads employees in continuous improvement and safety initiatives
• Performs regular/preventative maintenance on all machinery, tools, and buildings
• Develops, implements, and supervises the plant’s Preventive Maintenance program
• Repairs machinery, equipment, buildings, and other Company assets in accordance with diagrams, operating manuals, and manufacturing specifications, or by management request
• Orders supplies and parts as required, at competitive pricing and rates
• Maintains records of repair/maintenance activities, per Company policy
• Prepares other reports as required
• Performs duties consistent with established safety rules and procedures
• Performs other duties as required
