Job Responsibilities

The Plumbing Supervisor supervises and performs highly advanced supervisory maintenance and construction work. Responsibilities include supervising and training staff responsible for maintaining and repairing plumbing systems, installing fixtures, routine and preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs. The role involves estimating parts, inspecting work, and ensuring compliance with safety and code standards. The supervisor also participates in procurement, manages work schedules, and may participate in disaster response or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activities.

Essential Job Functions
  • Attend work regularly and work scheduled shifts, including overtime if necessary.
  • Supervise plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair work, ensuring safety and code compliance.
  • Estimate materials and labor, procure supplies, and manage project scopes and vendor interactions.
  • Inspect ongoing and completed work, maintain safety records, and ensure quality standards.
  • Manage tools and inventory, conduct interviews, and train staff.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls as needed.
  • Participate in agency disaster response and COOP activities, possibly requiring shift or location changes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of plumbing maintenance, safety regulations, and codes.
  • Proficiency with tools like pipe threaders, lifts, and welding equipment.
  • Ability to estimate costs, perform gas welding, and read schematics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CAFM software.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks independently.
Licenses and Certifications

Current Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations Journeyman Plumbing License or ability to obtain within 90 days. Valid Texas driver license or equivalent required within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

Five years of plumbing experience with three years supervising, or seven years of plumbing experience with four years supervising, plus vocational training in a trade.

Additional Information

Applicants must pass background checks, drug screens, and registry checks. Males aged 18-25 must register with the Selective Service. All applicants must be at least 18 years old, with specific age requirements for certain facilities. Flexibility in work hours, overtime, and extended hours may be required.
