Maintenance Supervisor – Healthcare Facilities

Hands-On Facilities Operations, Maintenance, Safety & Compliance

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, reliable, and hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to oversee maintenance, custodial support, safety, and day-to-day facilities operations across multiple healthcare locations.

This position is responsible for ensuring that our facilities, equipment, building systems, and physical environments remain clean, safe, functional, compliant, and well-maintained for patients, employees, visitors, and clinical teams.

This is a multi-location position. The Maintenance Supervisor must be comfortable traveling between company sites on a regular basis to inspect locations, supervise staff, respond to facility needs, perform minor repairs, and coordinate with vendors and contractors. A valid driver’s license is required, and a company vehicle will be provided for work-related travel.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in maintenance, facilities, handyman work, and/or healthcare facility operations, with the ability to supervise a team while also performing hands‑on repairs and preventive maintenance when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance, custodial, and facilities operations across multiple healthcare sites.
• Supervise, train, and support maintenance and custodial staff to ensure all locations are properly maintained.
• Travel regularly between company locations to inspect facility conditions, identify issues, and confirm work is being completed properly.
• Perform minor repairs and handyman work, including basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, patching, fixture repairs, furniture assembly, and general office maintenance.
• Develop, follow, and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
• Conduct regular inspections of buildings, offices, bathrooms, clinical areas, equipment, utilities, and facility systems.
• Ensure timely response to maintenance requests, urgent facility issues, and emergency situations.
• Coordinate repairs, renovations, small construction projects, and facility improvements.
• Work directly with outside contractors, vendors, service providers, and inspectors.
• Obtain vendor proposals, compare pricing, and assist management with vendor selection and project coordination.
• Monitor maintenance supplies, tools, equipment, inventory, and facility-related costs.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, work orders, preventive maintenance, vendor visits, and certifications.
• Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare, building, fire, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in preparing facilities for regulatory inspections, surveys, audits, and walkthroughs.
• Support fire safety, emergency preparedness, and disaster response procedures.
• Ensure HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life‑safety, security, and other critical building systems are properly maintained.
• Work closely with clinical, administrative, and leadership teams to address facility needs.
• Establish and monitor maintenance standards to ensure timely completion of work and proper follow‑up.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, cleanliness, and cost effectiveness.
• Respond to facility emergencies and coordinate appropriate corrective action.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of facilities, maintenance, handyman, or building operations experience preferred.
• Previous experience supervising maintenance, custodial, facilities staff, contractors, or vendors preferred.
• Healthcare, clinic, hospital, nursing home, or other regulated facility experience preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, repairs, and general handyman work.
• Knowledge of building systems, preventive maintenance, and facility operations.
• Familiarity with OSHA, fire/life safety, building codes, infection control, and healthcare regulatory requirements preferred.
• Experience preparing for regulatory inspections, surveys, or facility walkthroughs preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple locations, priorities, urgent situations, and daily maintenance needs.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate professionally with staff, vendors, contractors, inspectors, and management.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email, and maintenance/work-order systems.
• Hands‑on, solutions‑oriented approach with the ability to perform physical maintenance work when needed.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must be able to travel between company locations using a company‑provided vehicle.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift, carry, and perform hands‑on maintenance work.
• Ability to lift and move supplies, tools, furniture, equipment, and materials as needed.
• Ability to climb ladders, inspect building areas, and perform general repair work safely.
• Ability to travel between multiple company locations during the workday.
