Job summary

Allegheny County Airport Authority is seeking a seasoned Maintenance Supervisor to lead and supervise maintenance across all airport facilities, the airfield, and equipment locations. You will oversee trades teams, respond to emergency calls, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance while coordinating with airlines and tenants.

The role requires at least five years in a union maintenance supervisory role, experience with plumbing, electrical, or HVAC, and CMMS/BAS knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of experience in a union environment as a maintenance supervisor or foreman overseeing maintenance and/or construction trades in a multi-building complex or public works department within the past ten years (preferred).
  • Plumbing, electrical, and/or HVAC experience (preferred).
  • Technical school training or trade certification (preferred).
  • Valid Pennsylvania Class C driver’s license, maintained throughout employment.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise maintenance work in all airport facilities and buildings, including the airfield and associated equipment locations.
  • Supervise trade groups such as Engineers, Electricians, Plumbers, Electronic Technicians, Carpenters, Painters, and Trowel trades.
  • Respond to all maintenance‑related emergency calls.
  • Communicate effectively with airport authority departments, airlines, and tenants on maintenance issues.
  • Support preventative maintenance programs for all assets and equipment.
  • Support CMMS work orders to initiate and track preventive maintenance work.
  • Oversee maintenance contracts to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Supervise and participate in the investigation, troubleshooting, and repair of buildings and equipment.
  • Meet with tenants, airlines, and vendors to review maintenance issues and maintain exceptional customer relationships.
  • Provide input while drafting new specifications for maintenance contracts.
  • Direct projects from inception to completion.
  • Participate in toolbox talks and weekly safety meetings and be involved in all safety activities.
  • Develop and implement employee work schedules and approve overtime in accordance with union contracts.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the facilities and maintenance sites to ensure compliance with safety initiatives.
  • Support the Airlines Services Maintenance Department.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Five (5) years of experience in a union environment as a maintenance supervisor or foreman overseeing maintenance and/or construction trades in a multi‑building complex or public works department within the past ten years (preferred).
  • Plumbing, electrical, and/or HVAC experience (preferred).
  • Technical school training or trade certification (preferred).
  • Valid Pennsylvania Class C driver’s license, maintained throughout employment.
  • Ability to work with union employees, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Extensive knowledge of building construction and trade responsibilities.
  • Effective communication with airlines, tenants, contractors, and employees.
  • Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of Building Automation System (BAS) and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of union contracts and disciplinary procedures.
  • Knowledge of Pittsburgh International Airport layout and infrastructure.
  • Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
