Qualifications

The Maintenance Supervisor provides leadership, supervision, and operational oversight of the Electrical Maintenance division, including electrical infrastructure, power distribution, lighting, controls systems, and related maintenance activities throughout Worlds of Fun, Worlds of Fun Village, and Oceans of Fun. This position is accountable for the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of electrical systems in accordance with company standards, manufacturer requirements, and applicable regulations.

As the primary Maintenance leader for electrical operations, the Supervisor provides direct leadership to the Electrical, Electronics, and Ride Controls teams while supporting the reliability and maintenance of ride and attraction systems across the property. The role partners closely with Ride Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, Operations, Safety, and Engineering to achieve departmental and operational objectives.

The position currently has direct supervisory responsibility for Electrical, Electronics, and Ride Controls personnel; however, reporting relationships, team assignments, and areas of responsibility may change based on operational needs. The Supervisor may also be assigned oversight and leadership responsibilities for additional Maintenance functions as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

• Directly supervise Electrical Technicians, Electronics Technicians, and Ride Controls personnel.
• Provide technical and operational leadership for electrical maintenance activities throughout the property.
• Coordinate workload and resources between facility electrical systems and ride electrical systems to support operational priorities.
• Ensure staffing, training, and skill development support both current and future business needs.
• Foster positive labor-management relationships and administer applicable provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Conduct employee performance evaluations, recommend promotions, administer corrective action, and participate in hiring, disciplinary, and staffing decisions in accordance with company policies and applicable labor agreements.

Electrical, Facilities and Ride & Attraction Maintenance

• Lead maintenance, repair, inspection, and troubleshooting activities for electrical distribution systems, lighting systems, motor controls, building electrical systems, emergency power systems, utility infrastructure, and related equipment.
• Oversee preventative and predictive maintenance programs for facility electrical assets.
• Ensure compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA requirements, company standards, and manufacturer recommendations.
• Coordinate electrical support for facility upgrades, capital projects, seasonal installations, and infrastructure improvements.
• Support power distribution planning and electrical outage response activities.
• Oversee troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of ride electrical systems, PLCs, VFDs, automation systems, ride controls, sensors, and safety systems.
• Support attraction reliability initiatives by reviewing downtime trends and developing corrective actions.
• Ensure all equipment repairs, modifications, upgrades, and system changes are performed in accordance with manufacturer specifications, company standards, applicable codes, and approved change management processes, including proper documentation and configuration control.
• Assist with ride commissioning, seasonal openings, rehabilitation projects, and attraction upgrades.
• Manage contractors and vendors performing electrical work as assigned.

Safety & Compliance

• Maintain full compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards.
• Support ride inspections conducted by regulatory agencies, third-party inspectors, and manufacturers.
• Partner with Safety, Operations, and Public Safety leadership to identify and mitigate risks.
• Investigate ride-related incidents, equipment failures, and safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure all lockout/tagout, fall protection, confined space, electrical safety, and other safety programs are followed.

Operations Support

• Partner with park leadership to maximize attraction and facilities availability and guest satisfaction.
• Participate in daily operational planning and decision-making regarding ride readiness and maintenance priorities.
• Coordinate after-hours, emergency, and seasonal maintenance activities.

Financial & Administrative Management

• Assist in developing departmental operating and capital budgets.
• Monitor labor, materials, and equipment expenditures.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs without compromising safety or quality.
• Support capital planning, infrastructure improvements, ride rehabilitation projects, and equipment replacement strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

Required

• Minimum 3 years of industrial, commercial, utility, or amusement industry electrical maintenance experience or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 years of supervisory, foreperson, lead, or management experience or equivalent.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical distribution systems, motor controls, industrial power systems, and troubleshooting practices.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, automation systems, and industrial control systems.
• Demonstrated experience leading maintenance programs, inspections, and compliance initiatives in accordance with manufacturer and OEM requirements, established maintenance standards, approved engineering review and change management processes, and documentation controls necessary to ensure safety, reliability, regulatory compliance, and configuration integrity.
• Experience working in a unionized environment and administering collective bargaining agreements (CBAs).
• Ability to respond to emergencies and work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call situations.

Preferred

• Experience in amusement park, theme park, manufacturing, industrial maintenance, transportation, or similar high-reliability environments.
• Experience leading Maintenance teams in a seasonal or 24/7 operating environment.
• State Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent industry experience, experience with medium-voltage systems and experience with ride electrical and automation systems.
• Rockwell Automation certification or advanced PLC training.
• Knowledge of ASTM amusement ride standards and industry best practices.
• OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification and ability to complete required supervisor safety training, including OSHA Safety and Health Management and OSHA Recordkeeping training.
• OSHA outreach trainer credentials or advanced safety certifications.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, catwalks, and ride structures.
• Ability to walk long distances throughout the park.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as required.
