Job summary

Wellness Pet Company seeks a Maintenance Supervisor for the 3rd shift (D1267) to direct maintenance staff and ensure safe, efficient operations.

You will supervise 10+ employees, coordinate with production, uphold lean practices, and enforce safety, quality, and food safety standards across all maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years experience in a Maintenance/Team Lead role.
• Strong leadership and ability to manage 10+ employees.
• Knowledge of safety rules and ability to enforce them.
• Experience with extruders, packaging systems and conveying equipment.
• Experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret safety, operating and maintenance docs.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise employees in Maintenance and guide daily activities.
• Plan, assign, and direct work; coach and discipline as needed.
• Ensure worker safety and food safety; enforce Lean practices.
• Oversee PM schedules, maintenance work orders, and downtime planning.
• Coordinate parts usage and on-shift emergency response coordination.
• Lead team problem solving, performance reviews, and progress reports.
• Maintain data accuracy to support decision making.
• Communicate across shifts to ensure smooth operations.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Directly supervise employees in Maintenance.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
• Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Responsible for both employee safety as well as food safety. Actively involved in; coaching employees on all aspects of performing their duties in the safest manner possible for both personal safety and food safety.
• Conducts regular Employee Communication Meetings.
• Oversee adherence to PM schedules.
• Responsible for coaching and developing team members. Facilitates team problem solving, decision making, fair and timely disciplinary action, and conflict resolution. Ensures performance appraisals and progress reports are done in a timely manner. Facilitates the communication between shifts and teams.
• Train staff on effective maintenance practices.
• Oversee repairs in a timely manner.
• Schedule maintenance work order around production down time.
• Coordinate part usage and oversee parts check out.
• Act as on-shift representative for emergency response coordination, compliance to Company policies (drug/alcohol, attendance, EEO, etc.) Responds to employee issues as needed, conducts thorough investigations and coordinates results/issues.
• Demonstrate a daily commitment to the continuous improvement process by following Lean Manufacturing concepts and the Basic Principals. Strive to improve each work process. Identify/implement value added and cost savings activities and projects.
• Must maintain the highest standards of data management by creating consistent, reliable data which will ensure accuracy and in turn, maximize the use of data and confidence in decision making.
• Proactively manage safety by ensuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations and internal Company policies. Regularly complete behavior-based safety observations. Ensure unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Workplace Safety:

• Completes safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to Supervisor.
• Participates in mandatory safety trainings and adheres to all safety policies
• Required to report all safety issues, near misses, and injuries

Quality & Food Safety:

• Completes quality & food safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to Supervisor.
• Participates in mandatory food safety and quality training program requirements
• Preserves the integrity of the BRC system through adherence to the policies and procedures outlined. Takes actions necessary to resolve food safety and quality system deficiencies
• Required to report food safety and quality system failures and take actions necessary to preserve the BRC system.

• 3-5 Years experience in a Maintenance/Team Lead Role
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Experienced in managing employee performance, conducting reviews, coaching, and administering disciplinary action
• Must have strong leadership skills and the ability to manage at least 10 employees
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to work in an environment which includes frequent exposure to elements such as odor, noise, heat, cold, dust and chemicals
• Previous experience work with extruders, packaging systems and conveying equipment.
• Prior experience in a food or beverage manufacturing.
• Experience operating production machines.
