Job summary

Zekelman Industries, at the Wheatland Tube division in Rochelle, IL, seeks a 3rd Shift Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance team, ensure reliability and safety of plant equipment, and lead preventive maintenance programs for continuous operations.

You will supervise skilled technicians, troubleshoot complex machinery, manage spare parts, and drive improvements across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems in a heavy manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Welding and fabrication experience a plus.
• Associate degree or technical certification or equivalent work history.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and mentor maintenance technicians to ensure efficient daily operations.
• Oversee troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of plant machinery.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Enforce safety protocols and OSHA compliance.
• Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and coordinate emergency repairs.
• Monitor spare parts inventory and procure components as needed.
• Identify improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency and cost‑effectiveness of maintenance processes.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and equipment history.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams for continuous improvement.

About The Role

As a 3rd Shift Maintenance Supervisor at Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, you will oversee the maintenance team and ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all plant equipment. Reporting to the Department Manager, this hands‑on role is responsible for coordinating preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting machinery issues, and leading a team of skilled maintenance technicians to support safe and efficient plant operations. This role is onsite and located in Rochelle, IL.

What You’ll Do

• Supervise, train, and mentor maintenance technicians to ensure efficient daily operations.
• Oversee and participate in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining plant machinery, including mills, welders, cutting systems, and material handling equipment.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and improve equipment longevity.
• Enforce safety protocols and regulatory compliance, ensuring OSHA and Company policies are followed.
• Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and production disruptions, coordinating emergency repairs as needed.
• Monitor spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement of necessary components.
• Identify and implement improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and cost‑effectiveness of maintenance processes.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and compliance documentation.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to support seamless operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.

Who You Are

• 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in steel manufacturing or heavy industry.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience leading a maintenance team.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems; welding and fabrication experience a plus.
• Associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a related field; equivalent work experience considered.
• Proven ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues and implement effective solutions.
• Familiarity with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards and industrial safety best practices.

Compensation & Benefits

Bellow is the expected base salary range for this position. This is a good‑faith estimate, and offers will be determined based on experience, education, skill set, and interview performance.

Base Salary Range

[$84,460—$125,320 USD]

Additional Compensation May Include
