A leading transportation company is seeking a Supervisor of Maintenance Personnel responsible for overseeing maintenance operations and staff in a dynamic environment. RESPONSIBILITIES
This staff position has direct responsibility for the supervision of all union maintenance personnel. They have direct oversight of the shop during the assigned shift and are responsible for supporting the operations department's needs relating to vehicle availability. This includes the evaluation of vehicle condition, determining the best course of action during a breakdown, making logical decisions related to repairs and maintenance, handling routine personnel matters, and training activities.
HOURS OF WORK
Primarily 3rd Shift. Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 PM to 07:30 AM. All hours are subject to change upon authority needs.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
• Supervise all maintenance personnel for compliance with work schedules by being actively visible on the work floor.
• Use the maintenance information system to prepare work orders for all LANTA bus maintenance work, including repairs and PM inspections. All maintenance and repairs must be documented on a work order.
• Use the maintenance information system to schedule all preventive maintenance inspections and inspection repairs.
• Provides assistance to mechanics when necessary.
• Monitors maintenance worker schedules (ensures adequate manpower on each shift).
• Review all completed work orders and completed PM inspection documentation.
• Advise the Director and the Manager as to the proper parts stocking levels, according to current fleet trends.
• Pull parts requested by mechanics and properly document them on the work order.
• Assist dispatchers with road call requests and ensure response is given in a timely manner.
• Perform inspections/inventories of LANTA assets (materials, supplies, vehicles, etc.)
• Perform inspections of LANTA transit centers and bus stop amenities if needed.
• Generate required paperwork, pack up parts, and send out for repairs.
• Assist in all other aspects of inventory as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Subject to call during an emergency.
QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma plus supervisory experience and/or training.
• Transit bus experience preferred (mechanical or supervisory).
• Experience in a Unionized environment preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field.
• Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.
• Strong aptitude for using computer programs, including Word and Excel, to organize and complete work tasks.
• Ability to work effectively with personnel, vendors, and contractors.
