Job summary

Aviagen in Kentucky is seeking an experienced Maintenance Specialist to lead day-to-day maintenance operations across facility and utility systems. You will supervise maintenance staff, troubleshoot equipment, plan schedules, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance in a 24/7 work environment.

The role emphasizes proactive maintenance, coordinating with contractors, tracking performance, and developing preventative procedures to keep operations efficient and reliable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 5 years of maintenance experience or advanced education in electrical or mechanical systems.
• 1 year of direct supervisory experience in refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Experience in at least two of: mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, instrumentation.
• Strong communication, planning, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a 24/7 operation including holidays or weekends.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Commitment to safety with ability to motivate others.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, develop, and motivate the maintenance workers in facility and utility equipment troubleshooting, general repairs, and readings.
• Aggressively manage all breakdown maintenance requirements to successful conclusions
• Schedule and direct the day-to-day activities of the maintenance workers to achieve safe, timely, and satisfactory work
• Responsible for employee life cycle recruiting, onboarding, development, and training
• Evaluate the effectiveness of equipment functionality and schedule necessary repairs or changes in operating methods to improve operations
• Develop, implement, and maintain the department’s preventative maintenance procedures
• Oversee work in progress by outside contractors to determine adherence to plans and specifications
• Track, measure, and document the performance of the maintenance mechanics on an individual basis
• Directly assist with repairs and troubleshooting as needed
