Overview

At Elderwood at Williamsville SNF, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for assisting with the overall maintenance operation and ensuring life safety compliance of their assigned facility and grounds. This role involves performing repairs and maintenance on various equipment and structural items, inventory management, ordering supplies/equipment, and conducting regular maintenance checks. The position is crucial for maintaining overall building safety.

Responsibilities

The Maintenance Supervisor assists with planning, supervising maintenance programs, and performing duties related to the facility, including but not limited to:

  1. Heating, cooling, plumbing, water, gas, electrical, mechanical, oxygen, and communication systems; carpentry, painting, plastering, refinishing, flooring, and similar work.
  2. Managing grounds care.
  3. Maintaining institutional equipment and vehicles.
  4. Operating the power plant.
  5. Performing duties related to electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, mechanics, and HVAC systems, excluding those under outside service contracts.
  6. Scheduling maintenance repairs, replacements, and new installations of equipment and machinery.
  7. Maintaining grounds, parking lots, and driveways, including snow/ice removal.
  8. Handling freight and moving heavy furniture and equipment as needed.
  9. Maintaining records and plans for preventative maintenance systems.
  10. Coordinating maintenance work with other departments to avoid disruptions.
  11. Managing inventory requisitions for supplies and equipment.
  12. Supervising outside vendor contractors.
  13. Driving the company vehicle as needed.
  14. Participating in facility and staff meetings, and required training.
  15. Proposing ideas to improve resident care quality and departmental productivity.
  16. Responding flexibly to changing priorities and taking calls during off-hours as needed.
  17. Participating in the on-call program, which may include working off-hours.
  18. Using electronic timekeeping systems.
  19. Arriving on time, dressing appropriately, and following policies on electronic devices and conduct.
  20. Supporting Elderwood’s Mission, Vision, and Values, and complying with all policies including HIPAA.
  21. Performing other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications
    • Minimum two (2) years of experience in physical plant, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or HVAC maintenance preferred.
    • Valid driver license in good standing required.
    • Knowledge of OSHA regulations preferred.
    • Experience with equipment operation such as hand tools, lawn mowers, snowblowers, etc.
    • Supervisory experience including hiring, training, scheduling, and oversight.
    • Minimum 18 years of age.

    This role requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors. Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English at an intermediate or higher level is necessary to ensure safety and effective communication.
